It will allow you to easily share and apply user profiles across both bodies so they operate the same and you don’t have to re-learn the haptics of a camera or consciously think about what camera you’re using and where the settings you need are. Excellent advice. I have both cameras & use the SL2 & SL2-S interchangeably, both cameras are configured identically. On safaris I take both bodies, the SL2 in situations where I need to crop more e.g. birding & wildlife, the SL2-S in low light conditions, landscapes & people. The combination works seamlessly.
Advertisement Posted August 12, 2022 Posted August 12, 2022 Hi michali, Take a look here Why would I buy an SL2-s when I already have an SL2?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!

Having a back-up if needed is good (...to have is always better then to need...) but for parallel use I would definitely prefer similar haptics and menus etc, e.g. it is no prob at all if I use my SL2 and my Q parallel. So, would I have needed a second body for regular parallel use, I would have certainly gone for an SL2(s) and not for the S5. Anyway, stand alone I do very much like shooting with the S5... Ronald Weissman Posted August 14, 2022 Share #24  Posted August 14, 2022 (edited) I have and SL2 and eventually also bought an SL2-S for its, low-light performance and, most importantly, no 29.59  minute limit imposed by regulatory authorities (to allow the taxman to charge higher taxes on "professional" video cameras).  If you shoot weddings or theatrical productions (as I do), the removal of that artificial, bureaucrat-related limit is a big deal, unless you're filming to an external recorder. Yes, of course, you can quickly stop and restart the recording to work around the limit, but if you're a one-man operation and working with a multi-cam setup, or complex sound or lighting, and/or are not simply operating just one camera, having unlimited recording during a wedding or theatrical show give you one less needless distraction to worry about. The EU eliminated this restriction in 2019 but not all camera manufacturers have implemented unlimited (constrained only by storage and battery life) video recording yet. For Canon, for example, only the R3, R5C and R7 have no artificially imposed recording time limit.   Edited August 14, 2022 by Ronald Weissman

hwilms Posted August 14, 2022 Share #26  Posted August 14, 2022 I have bought an SL2-S in addition to my SL2. Why? Absolutely same body with same buttons, menus and handling. No need for „context switches“. I am feeling at home in either case. A 24 MP BSI sensor. Do not reduce the difference to the Megapixel count. It is a visible difference in image quality in low light situations. Maximum burst rate is higher. As soon as a camera exceeds 30 megapixels, you have to use faster shutter speeds in order to get sharp images. So, I am getting the exact same perfect handling and the choice between two (noticeably) different sensor types. Of course, a Panasonic is cheaper, but two Panasonics are even more cheaper. I cannot understand people who are recommending to buy a different brand instead of an SL2-S. The only reason might be, that your single reason for a second body is „backup“.
