maidenfan84 Posted August 10, 2022 Share #1 Â Posted August 10, 2022 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello! I currently have an X2 and a TL2, of which I love the both of them for different uses. I absolutely love my X2 for being able to just put it in its body case and then go out for a walk, travel, etc. With that said, I've noticed that there's a couple of dust spots on the sensor that are very apparent by f16. I wanted to ask if it's possible to even clean the sensor? I've reached out to Leica and they said they won't do any work on that because there's "no replacement parts available". Then, they offered me a discount on two other cameras if I wanted to give them my X2. Not sure if they were just giving me a hard time or not about cleaning it. Please let me know how to go about getting it cleaned or if there's anyone reputable in the US who is capable of cleaning it. Thank you, in advance! dkCambridgeshire Posted August 10, 2022 Share #2  Posted August 10, 2022 (edited) Leica UK no longer offer any support for Leica X series and thus would not service my X1 - but last month 'as a goodwill gesture' offered me a 45% discount on a new Leica CL / TL 18mm combination in part exchange for my 11 years young X1. I took advantage of the offer and am very happy with the CL/18mm. If Leica USA is offering you a similar deal it's worth considering — in fact could be a 'no brainer' if offered a decent discount.  Cleaning your X2 sensor is unlikely to require any new parts if you can persuade an 'indy' repair agency to tackle it. If Leica USA has ceased supporting Leica X series cameras and you want to keep your X2, you could consider approaching Don Goldberg for a service estimate https://www.dagcamera.com/contact.html.  If you decide to approach DG and send him your camera for servicing , please note his advice ref 'how to pack' / 'how not to pack' https://www.dagcamera.com/store/p180/Some_Cover_Letter_Errors.html https://www.dagcamera.com/faqs.html Edited August 10, 2022 by dkCambridgeshire
