Rob, this is a wonderful set and  I very much enjoy discovering this modern Singapore. When I visited this gorgeous place, these modern malls with luxury boutiques didn’t exist. The only mall that we were reaching through crowded and very picturesque Chinese neighborhood was “ Peoples Park”. I wonder if it does still exist and what it has become.

People’s Park does very much exist and I suspected it will be gazeted as a historic landmark one day.  An early post-independence modern ‘brutalist’ building in what still a brave new country.  Golden Mile Complex, build not long after, and designed by the same firm, has recently been gazzeted.  It is up for sale but the new developers will be required to keep the old structure intact.  Incidentally both buildings were designed by the firm I joined in the late 1970s, soon after the latter was completed :-).

If you feel like a coffee sometime next week, we can meet at one of the places in Esplanade courtyard.  There’s a local coffee place at the side entrance (I hope it’s still there!), If you prefer expresso type place I’m sure there’s one near by.  PM me if you’d like that.  I better get ready to board that 18 hour flight!

Paul, a set of super activity! It must have been lots of fun to shoot these good fellows! :)

As I am very often using the 35mm TL and find it very sharp, a few of these shots look a little soft to my eyes. Unless you reframed and resized them?

Kind regards,

Louis

Too dark and gloomy for chasing critters, so how about a mid-afternoon stroll down Orchard Road?

A good chance to finally shoot a favorite AOV, putting the 23mm 'cron-TL to work . . .

A favorite hangout for domestic workers on their day off . . .

Hi Louis, thank you!
I probably cropped them all slightly, but only to tidy up horizontals or eliminate small things at the edges - certainly nothing to have caused softness. I shall look closer at the originals on a big screen later to check. I agree, it should be very sharp, and the light was bright.

CL + 60 TL

I have a decision to make, my original CL arrived back from repair so had two bodies with me today, one with the 23mm and one with the 60mm, worked like a treat.

Keep both! In the long run the “Range Rover” strategy will work for you. At a minimum while one is in the repair shop you can drive the other one.

I vote both!

Unless some unforeseen miracle occurs in the design/manufacturing sector, nothing will top the CL in terms of IQ relative to size for some time to come.

And to keep my post legal (not that doing so requires much temptation!):

Two with a Canon EF 135mm f2, which has stolen my 55-135mm's job.  No aperture ring, but f/2 is where I'd shoot it all the time anyway . . .
