Irakly i think that is the only one to be honest. You may want to look at the Nikon SB 28DX which i also have and it is smaller and when you turn it on the ISO flashes so you can set that to your camera than go through the modes and stop at A mode than set the aperture on flash and your ready to go plus it has manual and adjust up or down. Also pretty cheap too. it works very nicely on the M8 with a Stofen diffuser , i use flash a lot on some of these grip and grin things i have to do for clients. Many clients besides doing the neat things like there advertising they ask you to do the grip and grin stuff too. Hey it's money

guys, what is the smallest metz flash that has a tilt-swivel head? my 54mz3 is so bloody huge!

Hi Irakly, I would consider a Nikon SB-600. We have tested several flashes with the M8, including Metz 54, 60 & 70. So far, the Nikon SB-800 and SB-600 proved to be up for the task, there are plenty of options, they work fine in A-mode and you can control even better in Manual mode.

The Metz with the DCA adapter is just too big, and the preflashes are a drag.

Guys, forgot to add something. With the M8, due to its infrared sensitivity, you can try something that was rather difficult in the dSLR world.

Get a fUV/IR Pass (visible light block) filter and a fast lens, like the CV 35 F1.2 or the Nocti or the Summilux 1.4. This turns the M8 into an IR capture device. So far, nothing new.

Now get a black velvia 120 roll exposed and developed, and completely cover with it the head of a SB-600 flash (or whatever flash you want). Flash turns into an IR flash, without disturbing with visible light.

Couple both and you have an incredible combination.

We tried that in several weddings where the church would not allow the use of [visible light] flash, but they did not even notice we were using the IR flash. It takes a while to guess the right exposure and focus, since there is a shift, but it is definitely worth!!!

The effect is quite flattering, specially for the bride, and if I remember correctly she gets to decide how many copies and albums to get... You get the idea...

Let me know your experiences, if you think the idea deserves testing.
