Hello all ,

I got a Leica R5 and bought a nice R E recently.

The R5 takes my 28 f2.8/ 35mm f 2 / 90mm f2 and 180mm f 2.8 lenses and works fine on aperture priority. ( Other automatic modes I just tried once withe the 90mm, which was working fine, but usually I use aperture priority only )

The R E only takes the 35mm on all other lenses it won´t react in any way when I turn the aperture.

( Even my R3 works with all lenses )

Only the 35mm f 2 works on the RE as I expected the others to work.

I´m thinking of returning the camera - while I looked on the back of the lenses I can´t see any differences ( spring screen ) to the others.

thanks for any help,

regards, Fokko

Make sure that the aperture connector on the back in the mount works properly (I.e. can you close the aperture by moving it manually) Otherwise the connector in the camera might be bent, broken or missing.

The lenses need to be 'R' cam or '3 cam' to work properly but they must be otherwise they wouldn't work on your R3 and R5 so that suggests that the RE is faulty.

Odd that it works with one lens though - maybe the connector in the camera is damaged as Jaap has said, bent perhaps and making contact with one lens but not the others (maybe minor variance in the parts).
