PhongNguyen0196 Posted July 20, 2022 Share #1 Posted July 20, 2022 Advertisement (gone after registration) I am currently interested in this combo for convenience for road trip, landscape and event shooting. Would be great to hear from any of you who have experience this combo or any SL bodies with Sigma lenses. As I have seen photos from the Vario Elmarit 24-70, I am strongly convinced that they are the same minus some features of being able to focus quicker that the Leica combo have. Also, I am thinking of getting the 50mm CV APO to use on both my M and SL2

Seba66 Posted July 20, 2022 Share #2 Posted July 20, 2022 Good question, I'm having the same thoughts too. At the moment I’m more oriented to Lumix 24-105. I will follow the comments to the post…
Shawn30 Posted July 20, 2022 Share #3 Posted July 20, 2022 I use the Sigma art series 24-70, 105mm Macro, and the sport 150-600. I took the 24-70 on a fly fishing float trip in Wyoming last month, and used it morning noon and night for a few days. In my opinion, the 24-70 is sharp, & has a similar look to the other Sigma lens's I have & love. It has nice close focus, the AF is accurate and I haven't noticed any abnormal hunting issues. I haven't noticed any problems with flaring, or CA issues. I did notice in post that light room is correcting some distortion (what kind I don't know). Welcome, dear visitor! Do you primarily using this lens set up on the SL2? the big turn down for me is that the 24-90 is too expensive and too heavy while the VE 24-70 is not really made by Leica. The selection that you have is quite similar to what I have in mind beside the 105mm. Thank you

FrankX Posted July 21, 2022 Share #8 Posted July 21, 2022 I am using the Sigma 24-70/2.8 with my SL2. A few weeks ago, I used it to photograph a wedding and it performed very well. The AF is not as fast as the Panasonic 50/1.8, but probably my fastest Sigma AF lens - maybe slightly faster compared to the 35/1.4 and significantly faster than the 85/1.4. Regarding image quality all three Sigma lenses are really great. Thus, based on my experience so far, I can fully recommend this lens! For a 2.8 aperture zoom lens it is really sharp and the bokeh is quite smooth. However, I find the combo not very convenient because of the weight. For your application, I would probably take a look at the Sigma 28-70/2.8 which is much lighter and not that much worse.
huwm Posted July 21, 2022 Share #9 Posted July 21, 2022 (edited) I traded in the 28-70 for the 24-70 art due mainly to concerns about weather sealing, I live in Wales. Whilst the IQ of the contemporary lens is excellent the art is better, I am using SL2 and occasionally S5 and it feels 'right' on the SL2 I did have the lumix 24-105 a few years ago and remember it being really good and with macro capability too. I had a CL then and found the combination challenging ergonomically, f4 was a bit of an issue but not much really as you would carry a faster prime in your bag/pocket.
