I will do as you say. I've never had this much trouble with JPGs with any Leica M series!!! 😭 Well apparently the month after you wrote this Leica released an update that addressed ugly looking JPEGs Welcome, dear visitor! If not then I guess the ugly JPEGs are just a combination of the software and the new sensor. Some people just shoot the M9 just because they love the JPEGs from it. I don't see an M as “better as the other M”. Just different. It could be the M11 is just not the ideal M for you. Personally, I would drop this now and get out while you can. My suggestion is to download a preset you really like (I have a Kodachrome one that looks nothing like Kodachrome but I love the preset itself), then shoot in raw and the editing literally takes a minute. pilu Posted November 16, 2022 Author Share #42 Posted November 16, 2022 But no....what a fight! We often don't understand each other in chats and I also apologise for my bad translated English. I think the show is over, sorry Chimichurri 😉
pilu Posted November 16, 2022 Author Share #43 Posted November 16, 2022 ...actually with the firmware update 1.5.0.1. in my opinion not much has changed, but it's not a problem. I also have a CL, an M9 and an M246 that don't give me these problems with jpegs. That's all. I hope for future firmware...

What I have found with the M11 is that my initial raw file looks great to me when I first look at it in lightroom. Then when I just press "auto" just to see what can be improved I usually see an improvement in contrast and saturation. This makes me realize that the initial file was actually a little flat but full of data(depth) that can be massaged to my liking. In your case with jpegs, have you tried the different contrast and sharpness settings that are available in camera? That may be your answer. Regarding the jpeg firmware update, that was to correct the heavy vignetting we were seeing when we checked images (raw / jpeg) on the camera's screen as this was using a jpeg display. the correction was not meant to address the issue you are having. Kwesi Posted November 18, 2022 Share #46 Posted November 18, 2022 oops! I just reread your OP and you have tried my suggestions. my only other thought would be to try experimenting with the monochrome presets in Lightroom on a few typical raw files and then when you find the look you want then use that as an import preset. I know this not the same workflow as SOOC jpegs but this may be your best option.
pilu Posted November 19, 2022 Author Share #47 Posted November 19, 2022 Advertisement (gone after registration) Thank you Kwesi for your reply and your attention to the problem. I will try to do as you advised otherwise.... I will resign myself to the evidence....
