Rva Posted June 17, 2022 Share #1 Â Posted June 17, 2022 Advertisement (gone after registration) Dear, I just wanted to ask you. I am trying to test CL with an uncoded Elmarit-M 28mm f/2,8 lens 11804 V3. I can select the right lens 11804 from the menu, but as the aperture is not transferred to the camera due to an uncoded lens, I don't know should I set the camera to get the correct exposure. Thank you
Advertisement Posted June 17, 2022 Posted June 17, 2022 Hi Rva, Take a look here Leica CL and non-coded Leica M lens. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
wda Posted June 17, 2022 Share #2  Posted June 17, 2022 Rva, treat the combination as an aperture-priority, manual-focus camera. Simple. Use fhe right wheel to magnify your subject.
pop Posted June 17, 2022 Share #3 Â Posted June 17, 2022 This applies to all M lenses, coded or uncoded. No M lens ever transmits the aperture to the camera body. They don't do that on M bodies, either.
lct Posted June 17, 2022 Share #4 Â Posted June 17, 2022 +1 If you had an M camera in can work the same way more or less.
tommonego@gmail.com Posted June 18, 2022 Share #5  Posted June 18, 2022 (edited)  Anticipate what aperture you will want, set the lens and adjust the speed accoringly. Yes, like aperture priority, it is how I have worked with Leica Ms, film and digital, and how I work with almost any camera. You can set the CL to A and the camera will set the speed. I don't have any coded lenses except for my 2 TL lenses, on most lenses I don't miss the coding. I would try your 28 with and without the coding set, see if there is any difference and what you prefer.  Edited June 18, 2022 by tommonego@gmail.com
