Gulby Posted June 7, 2022 Share #1 Posted June 7, 2022 Advertisement (gone after registration) I just purchased a Leica S1 Pro, but all it came with was the body, an ira filter, and a hasselblad lens adapter. Does anyone know where I can find a manual for this camera?

Gulby Posted June 7, 2022 Author Share #3 Posted June 7, 2022 Unfortunately, none of those manuals are for the one that I purchased. Here is a link to information about the one that I purchased: https://www.digitalkameramuseum.de/en/cameras/item/leica-s1
LeicaR10 Posted June 8, 2022 Share #4 Posted June 8, 2022 Gulby, I suggest you email Leica Customer Service at Wetzlar and see if they can send you a digital copy of the S1 manual from their archives. You might get lucky. r/ Mark
jaapv Posted June 8, 2022 Share #5 Posted June 8, 2022 Sorry. You probably mean that vintage scanning camera; fabulous machine. Leica might be able to mail you a scan.
jaapv Posted June 8, 2022 Share #6 Posted June 8, 2022 It is still one of the best tools for reproduction for colour fidelity and resolution.. There are still some in use with museums

tiwafluet Posted June 8, 2022 Share #9 Posted June 8, 2022 I just want to add that this camera will only work with a computer (running Mac OS 9 or Windows XP with Silverfast afaik) connected via fibre optics. There should be a calibration floppy disc specific to this camera. And the power supply needed is not a usual one.
Gulby Posted June 8, 2022 Author Share #10 Posted June 8, 2022 Yes sir. While I am aware of these facts, I appreciate you pointing them out. A friend and I were reading up on some patents filed by Leica in the period, and it looks like the optical connection just carries serial data encoded as light pulses. Our plan is to attempt to decode the data bus manually, and write our own software to automate the process. If we are not successful, then yes, searching for these parts would be the only option.
tiwafluet Posted June 9, 2022 Share #11 Posted June 9, 2022 Respect! For the second option: I saw some days ago an offer for a S1 Pro with complete equipment here in Germany.
Gulby Posted June 9, 2022 Author Share #12 Posted June 9, 2022 You have piqued my interest. I am interested in details about that camera you saw for sale in Germany, if it’s not too much trouble. It is fine if details are in Deutsch.

Gulby Posted September 14, 2022 Author Share #14 Posted September 14, 2022 Good news! It took awhile, but the helpful people at Leica scanned all the manuals for all the variants of the Leica S1 (and also a brochure) and sent me a link. I don’t believe that I am allowed to post copies of the manuals here, but since they are digitized now, I assume that it would be a much faster process for someone to obtain them from Leica. The email address that I contacted is: spareparts@leica-camera.com 1
Gulby Posted September 14, 2022 Author Share #15 Posted September 14, 2022 It didn’t take three months to get the manuals, it only took two. I just forgot for a month to post an update here.
