andybarton Posted September 13, 2007 Share #3 Posted September 13, 2007 September 13, 2007 10:58 Dillenburg - Germany Recipient refused delivery Any reason given? A US forum member had an issue with Dillenburg recently. Is this a "DHL getting the address wrong" thing?
sdai Posted September 13, 2007 Share #4 Posted September 13, 2007 Any reason given? A US forum member had an issue with Dillenburg recently. Is this a "DHL getting the address wrong" thing? I think that's Howard Cummer ... his track record shows that after two unsuccessful attempts, DHL "lost" his camera somewhere between Dillenburg and Solms. jaapv Posted September 13, 2007 Share #5 Posted September 13, 2007 The adress should be: Leica Camera AG Solmser Gewerbepark 8 D 35606 Solms Deutschland
fursan Posted September 13, 2007 Author Share #6 Posted September 13, 2007 jaap, Exactly same adress. maybe because I wrote 'Germany' instead of 'deutschland' and someone got p***ed in the fatherland! The adress should be: Leica Camera AG Solmser Gewerbepark 8 D 35606 Solms Deutschland
fursan Posted September 13, 2007 Author Share #7 Posted September 13, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Andy, no reason given, so far. I have called leica cs, solms and explained the problem. they asked me for my fone number ( umpteenth time ) and they would call me back. I also mentioned that I had spoken to xxx prior to shipment and that I had e-mailed xxx re: the shipment. it's things like these that really put me off. paying so much money and having to go thru all this hassle..i am disheartened... to say the least. Any reason given? A US forum member had an issue with Dillenburg recently. Is this a "DHL getting the address wrong" thing?
jaapv Posted September 13, 2007 Share #8 Posted September 13, 2007 jaap, Exactly same adress. maybe because I wrote 'Germany' instead of 'deutschland' and someone got p***ed in the fatherland! So what is the package doing in Dillenburg:confused:
marknorton Posted September 13, 2007 Share #9 Posted September 13, 2007 Could be damaged, could be there was customs clearance fees and/or import duty to pay, and "charge to sender's account" was not checked on the AWB.
marknorton Posted September 13, 2007 Share #10 Posted September 13, 2007 Dillenburg is the regional centre from which the delivery was made - Cologne is their major hub for that part of Germany. If I send to Germany, they pick it up at 4pm and it's there by 10am, typically, the next day, going in via Cologne.
stunsworth Posted September 13, 2007 Share #11 Posted September 13, 2007 So what is the package doing in Dillenburg:confused: That's probably the DHL local hub, cologne being the point of entry into the country and Dillenburg being the distribution centre for the area. Nothing wrong with putting Germany on the parcel either. Sounds like the address got screwed up in some way, or maybe it was delivered outside of office hours and there was no one to sign for it. fursan Posted September 13, 2007 Author Share #12 Posted September 13, 2007 talked to solms,cs few minutes ago. i shall name the excellent person with whom i have been in touch. Mr. Eberhard Jakob was kind enough to inform me that the lens had arrived at leica and because dhl had not completed the customs papers, they refused acceptance. i was further informed that , no it would not be reshipped back to me because of this. only that dhl must complete the paperwork and leica would do the necessay. Mr. Eberhard was really nice and told me , he would contact me to let me know as soon as they had a first look at the lens. See, I had the address right. ha! Guest GuyMancusoPhoto Posted September 13, 2007 Share #15 Posted September 13, 2007 As the sweat dries up now. I did send a e-mail to Solms just to make sure of the proper address for folks . I will post it here and maybe the customer section. We should make leica NJ, leica Solms info a sticky somewhere if not already done
Guest GuyMancusoPhoto Posted September 13, 2007 Share #16 Posted September 13, 2007 BTW Just a FYI . Leica NJ uses UPS second day air on almost everything leaving NJ. I only ship UPS to them but you can use other carriers but to be honest it is good to know who they deal with because they establish a relationship with there carriers and you just never know when that relationship could help better find something and if mismarked it may just find it's way there anyway. Leica Germany i am not sure who they use over there for Europe and Asia
TEBnewyork Posted September 13, 2007 Share #17 Posted September 13, 2007 Guy, My filters came from Gernany via Fedex. You've made it up to 26 posts...only 5974 left to get back to being yourself again. Terry
Guest GuyMancusoPhoto Posted September 13, 2007 Share #18 Posted September 13, 2007 That is a LOT of talking. LOL I know they use Fed -X on the filters but not sure on repairs. here in the US it goes through Leica NJ so we are not sure for the US.
fursan Posted September 13, 2007 Author Share #19 Posted September 13, 2007 Thanks Folks. yes it is a relief. I am not a sportsperson and this sort of rollercoaster rides are more for the 'extreme sports' followers amongst you. I thought getting a leica would be a more peaceful, uneventful and genteel pastime. Fooled again!
John in Japan Posted September 13, 2007 Share #20 Posted September 13, 2007 I've just dealt with Jakob and I must say he is very responsive to issues. Jakob gets an A+ in my book. John
