Photoworks Posted May 28, 2022 Share #1 Posted May 28, 2022 Advertisement (gone after registration) I like to share a test that I did mostly for myself. M11 with summilux 50mm f8 and the SL2 with SL summicron 50mm at f8 I did the full range of ISO from base to ISO25000. The result are different from tests I did in the past with M10-P and M10-R. It is better to under expose M10's to save highlights and DR. The results of the M11 and SL2 are almost the same. It is better to overexpose at higher iso. the image is much cleaner and recovering 2 stop of overexposure than using a normal exposure. Underexposing created lots of noise in both cameras. Here are 100% views of the M11 on the left and SL2 on the right. ISO6400 shot at 0EV and ISO25000 at +2EV look the same, what mathematically make sense but the result doesn't alway mach in all cameras. Welcome, dear visitor! MEMORIAL2022 PS: the 2 cameras have a color response, but the reds from the M11 are more accurate when using C1 profiles. 2
 Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! SrMi Posted May 28, 2022 Share #3 Posted May 28, 2022 You never save DR when underexposing. Did you use equal exposure (shutter speed & aperture)?

I set ISO, and f stop and did 5 bracket exposure -2 -1 0 +1 +2 In post equalized the under and over exposure and the middle exposure and then compared noise at 100% If I turn NR of in cameras the SL2 is just a little cleaner. Don't be afraid of high iso. find out the limits and how the camera performs best and use it as a tool. The nice surprise to me was the Summilux-m ASPH 50 mm at f8, didn't think it was going to do so well next to the Summicron-SL 50 at f8. 1
