grahamc Posted May 20, 2022 Share #1 Posted May 20, 2022 Advertisement (gone after registration) Curious to know if anyone owns / uses this leather pouch. I guess there's not too much to know about it as "it is what it is" but overall I'm looking for something so slip the M into before putting it into my daily carry bag (work bag for example). So just wondering how it is really and also how the back of it looks . Doesn't look like you can put a strap on it but I don't need to Cheers ! Welcome, dear visitor! Fotoklaus Posted May 20, 2022 Share #2 Posted May 20, 2022 I use the neoprene version of this bag. It slips over the camera and the lens. You can use the camera strap as it won´t cover it. The neoprene absorbs shocks better than the leather.

Thanks - yes I keep knocking the camera (through my main bag) which is why I'm thinking of buying something like this . Would you have a link for the one you are referring to @Fotoklaus? Cheers ! kivis Posted May 20, 2022 Share #4 Posted May 20, 2022 I have the leather version in black. It is very supple and serves its intended purpose. Also when you close it up there is room for the camera's straps (if you have straps to the camera itself)to protrude.

I basically use this instead of a camera bag most days. Unless I travel somewhere far( the only thing I wear around me is my camera. If I think I know I’ll need another battery I put it in my pocket. the pouch just goes over your camera and I wear my camera like a sling. Then it helps to put the camera in the car and I don’t need to worry about it banging around. When I get to where I want to go, I take it off and leave it in the car. I put a lens cloth in the pocket inside just in case I need to do a quick wipe. Welcome, dear visitor! a.noctilux Posted May 20, 2022 Share #8 Posted May 20, 2022 Hello Graham, I use for many years the same neoprene Leica pouch as Summilux-asph. First for it's shock proof (better than leather) when I motorbike travel. Velcro open/close is a bit loud, but last many years (I have some other Velcros in other places that are not so reliable).
Chazphoto Posted May 20, 2022 Share #9 Posted May 20, 2022 A vote for the nappa leather version here, specifically because the Velcro is very noisy on the neoprene. The two round Velcro tabs on the nappa version are much quieter. Not as good as the magnetic closure on the Q2 case, but although I was told they fit the M10, the colour combinations are more of an acquired taste. I switched to the leather case because the neoprene is bulkier to fold and shove in a jacket pocket. The leather does have some padding, but I would guess the neoprene will give more protection if you need it. chazphoto 1
pgk Posted May 20, 2022 Share #10 Posted May 20, 2022 I have a neoprene pouch that I no longer use. I have an old Billingham bag which fits snugly inside my rucksack and the camera is well protected without the pouch. Pity you aren't in the UK or you could try it!

As registered member you'd see an image here… Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! I use it for everything. Daily, when I go out to shoot some street photography or just travel (w/ my car), I put it in a camera w/ a lens attached, I park the car (leave the pouch in the car) and walk with just the camera/lens/strap. So, during short/long travel, my gear is always protected. Just put the pouch in a generic bag, and voila, you are low profile. I use it for Q2M or M10 + any 35 I own or 50 Summicron. Also, for generic big DSLR lenses. I have three of them. For example, when I have a destination wedding abroad and need to travel, I use it for a backup camera and accessories. You can use it w/ a belt system. And the good thing is that it is very rugged and thick. The Leica leather pouch is lovely, and it's original Leica, but in my world, it's not as protective and functional as this one. But hey, it's me. I'm the guy with an expensive Casio, not a Rolex.
 Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! I use it for everything. stephan54 Posted May 20, 2022 Share #18 Posted May 20, 2022 (edited) vor 11 Minuten schrieb Summilux-asph: Yep. Reminds me of Downey Jr’s Man Purse. I like it! Not too big. It’s a smaller alternative to the sling. I’ve tried very small bags before, but they just don’t have enough pockets to put extra things, so I just end up putting them in my pocket. Welcome, dear visitor! As registered member you'd see an image here… Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! The Flute has a front pocket that holds a filter, spare battery and sd card. The Soprano is a bit bigger and can carry two small lenses (lens on the bottom and camera with lens on top of that). In addition a pocket with a zipper and an back outer pocket that can hold your passport or creditcards, which is handy while travelling. I used to carry the camera without protection, but after three falls (ankle gave way) and three repairs I decided to buy a bag.
