I didn't see any updates in Photos. I sent Leica a support request via the app and they sent me the download link for the update. Now I have updated and everything is solved. Thanks Leica.

The update seemed to work for me via Fotos. One thing I seem to notice more of, however, is kind of clicking sounds when in AFs, more than I remember. I understand it will make noise when the shutter is half pressed and the lens focuses, what I am talking about is just holding the camera without touching the shutter button. It does not appear to be the aperture, as the aperture is not changing when the sound is made. The sound of the AF motor kicking in maybe? It sounds like is some sort of prefocus mechanism (this drove me nuts with the Panasonic S1 until I figured out how to turn it off), but I am not using iAF...I don't want the camera to make any noise at all until I press the shutter, so it is a bit annoying. I think it might have happened before, but I have not noticed it much. Now I guess I am giving focused attention to the lens behavior, so I noticed it. It does not happen at all in MF mode, thankfully, which is a mode I am in much of the time. The lens I was using was the 50mm APO summicron.

Anyway, just wondering if others feel like it is different.

Just turn of PREFOCUS in AF settings

Thank you! It must have defaulted to on after the firmware updates. I wish Leica could find a way to just leave the camera intact when these updates occur. I know there are the profiles, but they are also somewhat problematic, as they save everything and switching between them can change even settings you don't really want to change. Perhaps this is too much to ask, but I would prefer if I did not have to set up the camera again every time a firmware update happens (including losing all the numbering to the files etc). I know for some people this is not an issue, but I do find it rather disruptive. None of my other cameras do this, as far as I can recall.

P.S. It is weird that it is called pre focus because it does not seem to actually change the focus...it just makes a noise...at least in my limited use. When I had prefocus on in the S1, it was very obvious, in that it would literally keep refocusing of things. The Leica just seems to make focusing noises without changing the focus, which is why I did not go looking for that menu option somewhere...

There has been another behaviour with the new firmware that made me wonder if it was real or not: waking up from sleep seems to take longer than I remembered - but I could be just misremembering. I have been shooting a lot with the 90-280 where I have noticed it, but can't yet confirm if it shows up on any other lens.

Anyone else think the same?

After the firmware v3.1 update for SL2-S waking from sleep seems acceptable again now. I wonder if the slow movement of the aperture motor had this same knock-on effect.

Should be available now...

Andreas

Where, please?
I do not use FOTOS and Leica's official site one can only find fw 4.0 for SL2

Am I missing something?

Just visited the Leica USA website and was able to find v.4.1 of the firmware by clicking the links that lead to the main page for the SL2 and then selecting the firmware tab. I haven't tried to find v.4.1 previously so it's possible it was just posted to the website. I don't use Fotos, so it is nice to see the update on the website.

Do you mean this page/link? https://leicacamerausa.com/leica-sl2.html

That's gives me a 403, forbidden. I downloaded it from the main Leica site (not usa) - it's 123 megs, put it on my SD card but the camera says there's no firmware update on the card (version is SL2__41__0.lfu). Tried re-downloading multiple times, no love. Tried updating via latest version of photos and the app does not show a firmware update for the SL2 (wtf?)

Anybody have a valid link for this? One wonders if Leica could make any more of a mess of this
