arnaudhaifa Posted September 11, 2007 Share #1 Posted September 11, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi, I regularely have those strips on the up right corner. I can only see them when I accentuate a lot black/contrast and colours in Lightroom. They can also be seen in the right up border. M8 & 28/2.8 elmarit Can it be a sensor problem? I clean it regularely and it still appears. Thank you for advice,

arnaudhaifa Posted September 11, 2007 Author Share #3 Posted September 11, 2007 Thank you Wolfgang! About the white and blue diagonal strips, do you think they're normal? I don't have them with my K10D in same situation. Any idea? Thanks, Arnaud
jaapv Posted September 11, 2007 Share #4 Posted September 11, 2007 Could you please post a 100% crop? I do see your sensor is quite dirty.

Shootist Posted September 11, 2007 Share #6 Posted September 11, 2007 Could you please post a 100% crop? I do see your sensor is quite dirty. I have to agree. Yor sensor is filthy, spots all over it. Don't know how or what you are using to clean it but I always do test shots after each time I wipe it with a swab and E2. If the test shows spots I do it again and again and again until there are no spots or marks of any kind.
fefe Posted September 11, 2007 Share #7 Posted September 11, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Looks like you have a dirty sensor, if your M8 is new it's probably the shutter spilling oil on the sensor, it took me around 1000 shots for spots to stop appearing, and I had to use wet+dry swabs to get rid of it... arnaudhaifa Posted September 11, 2007 Author Share #8 Posted September 11, 2007 Thank you firends for your advices, but I am not talking about the dirty spots that I fight regularely as all of us. I am mentioning the strips blue and white. Btw more easy to notice like this than a 100% crop. They are in upper corners and very light. If none of you saw them it's a good point anyway! Ps: Elfefe we met chez Cathy & Pierre with Raffi !

Ps: Elfefe we met chez Cathy & Pierre with Raffi ! Yes I can see them and I think they are some type of residue from trying to clean the sensor. Give the sensor a REAL GOOD cleaning, ALL of the sensor (corner to corner Up & down), until there are NO more spots and then try another image like the one above and see if those lines/strips are still there. luigi bertolotti Posted September 11, 2007 Share #10 Posted September 11, 2007 The diagonal strips, imho, have nothing to do with the sensor, but only with the postprocessing : for me it would be better to have a look at the DNG cropped at the angles, with a simple jpg conversion and no PP; and... I saw you used a WA... was it coded, and lens recognition on ? If so, I'd suspect a combo effect of cyan drift correction + postprocessing...
arnaudhaifa Posted September 11, 2007 Author Share #11 Posted September 11, 2007 Luigi and Ed thank you for your answers. So the strips were there from the very first shot, which does not mean it is not some kind of residue. I tried to clean them without success. Regarding postprocessing, I tried to use iphoto from the dng, increasing to max contrast and light and I still can see the strips, while much less than with Lightroom. Even using Xee or Apercu, I can see them but again much lighter as without postprocessing. Yes my 28/2.8 is coded, I am not using Ir filter and lens recognition is on. I checked and had the same effect with my 21 elmarit also coded. I will try another cleaning in the next days.
jaapv Posted September 11, 2007 Share #12 Posted September 11, 2007 Maybe C1 that came with the camera? But on my calibrated monitor I see nothing as strong like you describe.Very faint. Can you enhance/enlarge them?
arnaudhaifa Posted September 11, 2007 Author Share #13 Posted September 11, 2007 Jaap I'll try with C1. Here is a crop. Don't forget I put blacks contrast and vibrance colors to max.
stunsworth Posted September 11, 2007 Share #14 Posted September 11, 2007 Are you creating 8 bit files from the DNGs? If so you're going to see posterisation effects when you push them. Do you see any issues with normal files?
arnaudhaifa Posted September 11, 2007 Author Share #15 Posted September 11, 2007 Steve I did not know I could choose between 8 or 16 bit files. Is it in Lightroom or from my M8?
luigi bertolotti Posted September 13, 2007 Share #16 Posted September 13, 2007 Jaap I'll try with C1. Here is a crop. Don't forget I put blacks contrast and vibrance colors to max. I'd say ... signs of posterization for excess of pushing... and still some unrelated spots coming from CCD to becleaned...
