howieh Posted April 18, 2022 Share #1 Â Posted April 18, 2022 Advertisement (gone after registration) I was given the advice by a very experienced Leica repair person here on the East Coast, saying that the "good" copies of M6 start at 174xxx (when the 2nd literation of the circuit board was implemented) and goes to 199xxx before the "bean counting" began and the quality of the copies drop precipitously and the later serial copies are to avoided. Anyone knows if this is true?

Lux50 Posted April 19, 2022 Share #2  Posted April 19, 2022 Don’t know if it is true, but I bought my M6 #167xxxx new in January 1986 and have never had a mechanical problem with it.
kivis Posted April 19, 2022 Share #3 Â Posted April 19, 2022 I've heard about 4 or 5 variations of this story. My experience is if you have a Leica M camera and it works well, keep it.
250swb Posted April 19, 2022 Share #4  Posted April 19, 2022 I would say the statement is likely to be untrue.
