farnz Posted May 9, 2022 Share #21 Posted May 9, 2022 Advertisement (gone after registration) @marknorton, as someone who famously deconstructed your M8, put it back together, and expertly documented it through the forum do you have any thoughts about the likely cause or potential repair? Flori Posted May 10, 2022 Author Share #22 Posted May 10, 2022 Dear all! Thanks everyone for your help. I also think the problem may be caused by something heating up. In the case where I take the battery out of the machine and leave it for 2-3 days, the display will work for up to 5 minutes. But if I use the machine, even if I turn it off and on, the display will not work. If I leave the machine without battery for 1-2 days again, the display will work again for 4-5 minutes. Maybe something is heating up.
Flori Posted May 10, 2022 Author Share #23 Posted May 10, 2022 (edited) According to an engineer friend of mine, it is supposed to be the chip in the LCD that is broken. And Leica probably doesn't make these chips anymore, so they can't improve them. See: Dear Mr. Kovac, Thank you for your mail and information. Unfortunately, such a repair is no longer possible. It is a display error and displays have not been available for a long time. Sorry not to have better news. M8 cameras can be repaired except displays and sensors.
