fotografr Posted March 28, 2022 Share #1 Posted March 28, 2022 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) I was digging through my photo files today and came across this image I took in 2004 with my Digilux 1, the first digital Leica I owned. The kids are my wife's nieces. The older one now has two Master's degrees and is teaching in Seattle. The other is a filmmaker in South Carolina. The Digilux 1 had a 1/1.8" 4 MP CCD sensor and used SD cards up to 1 GB to record jpeg or tiff files. I didn't do any work on this image and it demonstrates one of the criticisms of the camera, which was that it produced "watercolor like photos." The technology has certainly changed in the last 20 years. Welcome, dear visitor! Beautiful portrait and a great souvenir for the girls. I read somewhere that the kodachrome produced in USA and the one in Europe were different in color rendering. If I am not mistaken the one in Europe, it's colors were warmer. Regards. Carl.

Thanks, Carl. I had the exact thought when I came across this in my files. It very much resembles Kodachrome. I don't know who produced that CCD sensor but it might have been Kodak. Cheers, Brent
stuny Posted March 28, 2022 Share #4 Posted March 28, 2022 Very nice. If I recall, the camera is a rebadged Fuji.

After partnering with Fuji on the Digilux 1, Leica moved on to Panasonic. Hard to say whether that was a good move. Fuji has a long line of very nice digital cameras. The X100 series is very impressive. If there was a Leica counterpart to the X100 v, I'd buy it without hesitation. Henry Taylor Posted March 29, 2022 Share #6 Posted March 29, 2022 Very nice photo and the colors truly do remind me of shooting Kodachrome 10 . Never used the Digilux 1 but I loved the Digilux 2 I use to have, wish I still had it but was afraid I wouldn't be able to get parts and sold.
