Popular Post carl_valiquet Posted March 24, 2022 Popular Post Share #1 Posted March 24, 2022 Advertisement (gone after registration) Going through images of my daily photo-walk in the market, I came across a series of portraits of this lady. The camera seems to have captured the inner thoughts of the woman what I call « the space between». At one point during the photo session, we both remained quiet, not saying a word, our silence interrupted by the noises of the market. The women seemed to ignore my presence. I took a few more photos. Then stopped. M10 Monochrome 50mm Apo-Summicron Welcome, dear visitor! fotografr Posted March 24, 2022 Share #2 Posted March 24, 2022 (edited) Really a lovely portrait. You seem to have made a connection with her that made words unnecessary and it shows in this image. Some people think the 50 apo is too sharp for portrait work. This photograph disproves that notion. Anyone doubting that should click the image for the best presentation. stuny Posted March 24, 2022 Share #3 Posted March 24, 2022 Wonderful. I'll make an analogy: Jazz pianist Oscar Peterson, and bassist Ray Brown were so in sync that when they played it was as though the music came from one mind. Your photo and subject mirror that. Great analogy Stuart. Thanks a lot.I once read that Philip Glass would stay in the empty concert hall after a recital and record the « empty sound left by the players and spectators ». There, in that « space between » he was inspired for his compositions. Regards. Carl. P.S. By the way, Oscar Peterson come from the same city: Montréal.

True, it is sharper or maybe the word is « more acutance » than the 50 Summilux ASPH. I do like the fact that the Apo enhances the lines of life ( on their hands, faces ) and brings out the clothing. I usually try to use it wide open as the shallow depth of field compensates for the sharpness of the elements in focus. I have discovered that the photos of Andan my wife are more pleasing for her when I use the 50 Summilux ASPH. I also own a 50 mm Pre-ASPH. It gives a glow to the portraits. I love this lens with the M9.

At first, it is the light that captured my attention. This woman sits in a dark area of the market with light coming from small skylights and a small window.
