I always find it fascinating (and great) that we have so very different deal-making and deal-breaking features within such a small community. Even some don't seem to rally around the presence of a viewfinder. I sure wouldn't want to be the one having to make decisions about what should stay and what should change!

This is perhaps the main thing on which we all agree, that some things need to stay while others need to change. We just can't agree on which ;)

In my case, and for my needs, the M11 has been fantastic so far. The deal-makers for me were usb-charging, much increased battery capacity, lower base ISO, and improved highlight recovery. These made me sell my M10r, but I can totally understand that these aspects are not important for others and lead to different decisions. Interesting nonetheless to hear so many different takes on 'the right M.'

I think you're onto something, re the small community thing. I used to ride a motorcycle. I had three friends who also rode motorcycles. I'd have liked to have had a Triumph Speed Triple, but I couldn't afford one, so I had an unfaired Suzuki Bandit 1200. My friends also had Japanese in-line four cylinder bikes. We'd go out on sunny weekends and ride our bikes together.

Motorcycles, here in the UK, at the time, only represented around 1% of all the traffic on the roads. Not unlike Leica, in the camera market.

I had thought, with us being such a tiny group of road users, we'd be one happy band of bikers, we'd stick together, but no. There was the petty rivalry, one-upmanship, scorn, and sometimes outright hatred amongst motorcycling tribes within that 1%. The people who road Harley-Davidsons were pretty much universally hated by everyone. It was astonishing. A common courtesy on the roads was you'd nod at a motorcyclist approaching from the other direction, and he would nod back. One guy told me that he wouldn't nod at anyone riding a bike smaller than 650cc.

It's that stone-age brain we all have. It's conditioned to put us into in-groups, and out-groups. It works with motorcycling, football, politics and, it would seem, owning a Leica camera.

I have my own needs and preferences, but have no concerns whatsoever about others’ differing opinions and choices. There are more than enough options to satisfy me, Leica or other brands. I rode big Harleys years ago, but would feel right at home nowadays on a smaller Triumph Bonneville.  Never bothered with this tribal thing; live and let live.

Heh, heh.

I'm Lumbar-Fused from T12 to S1. I used to ride motorcycles, but stopped about six or seven years ago after one of my back surgeries. I just couldn't submerge myself into it and enjoy it anymore.

That's when I renewed my interest in two seat roadsters. I'm on my second MX-5 now, and having the time of my life!

Staying alive is a Good Thing. I get loads more photography done that way....

Oh, and Miata folks wave like idiots to one another; we're a pretty happy bunch.

Great car, the Miata.  I try to nod at all motorbikes as I ride past.  The ones who tend not to respond are the Japanese sport bike riders who seem hell bent on riding as fast as they can into the next life.

I have a 2013 Club Sport.  Love it.  Still looks like new (only 25K on it) but I have had a recurring P0456 very slight emission leak permanent error code.  Gotta get that fixed before I can get it smogged. Already tried two new gas caps (one Stant, one Mazda OE).  It's the kind of car that is fun even at 30mph!

As for the M11?  Nice but the ongoing issues that many are having has dulled any interest for me.

and yes I know everyone says that you can more safely crop into a frame with more mp, yes of course you can......but, easy to say for sure, why not try to frame better in the first place?

Because with primes there will always be times when the subject is further away than you can approach. I shoot combat sports and often use my M9 and Zeiss Distagon 35. Framing rapidly moving athletes is hard enough with a mirrorless or DSLR, let alone a rangefinder. And they often move unexpectedly to the other side of the ring, so you need to crop to get the desired composition. After considerable practice, I'm able to shoot at f1.4 on 35mm and consistently hit focus, but will also need to crop to get the image I need. A camera with better high ISO would allow me to stop down, but the images lose the unique look of 35mm f1.4.
