dcoombs Posted September 9, 2007 Share #1 Posted September 9, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Recently I unscrewed a filter from my 75mm cron and a second (retaining?) ring came off the lens with it! Must have screwed the filter on too tight, obviously. I was able to screw the ring back onto the lens and nothing else seemed to be loose, but it now can unscrew easily. On the outside of the ring there were several white paint or glue spots. Has this happened to any of you and is it something to be concerned about or just a nuisance? Advertisement Posted September 9, 2007 Posted September 9, 2007 Hi dcoombs, Take a look here 75mm Summicron filter ring problem. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Eoin Posted September 10, 2007 Share #2 Posted September 10, 2007 I had exactly the same problem, I sent it back a couple of weeks ago to Solms along with some other stuff and was fixed without any further problems. A nuisance for sure.
Shootist Posted September 10, 2007 Share #3 Posted September 10, 2007 Happened to me but all I did was screw it back on as tight as I could. I did some tests screwing the filter in and out and the only time I can get that ring to unscrew is IF I torque the filter on. That ring holds the hood on. grober Posted September 10, 2007 Share #4 Posted September 10, 2007 Same experience here. But now that the 49mm Leica UV/IR filter in on for good, I'll probably never see the problem again. -g
dcoombs Posted September 10, 2007 Author Share #5 Posted September 10, 2007 Thanks, guys. I think I'll just screw it down as tight as I can. Probably the best route to follow is JW's and just keep the filter on permanently. Means going out and buy another for the other lens, tho...
