leicamann Posted August 15, 2006 Share #1 Posted August 15, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) For people not familiar with Tibetan Buddhism, this is a week long ceremony where , in a state of prayer, meditation and ceremony this Mandala is created out of colored sand. At the end of the week, it is destroyed, symbolic of many things. One is the evident fact of the transitoriness of life and that in the end all is disolved . Here are 2 images, one where the Mandala was being finished, the second picture is at the precise moment where the Lama disects the Mandala with the "Dorje"..with his right hand...then after that it is brushed into a heap, and small samples are passed out . Later, the sand mass remaining is taken to be thrown intothe ocean. First image D1, second, R4s /R180mm apo Telyt F3.4 and Fuji Press 400. I assume the images posted here will be somewhat noisy, due to how this server treats jpegs, hopefully we will get to the bottom of this . Opps..the images got smushed together..Sorry Regards, Leicamann:)
