I do a lot of long exposure and I typically use a rubber around the lens to sort of lock the focusing ring. But many M lenses have a focusing tab so I'm not sure it will work. are there alternative solutions?

Depending on the lens, there  is a small "non-tabbed" section on the focus ring.

Heavy duty adhesive band may be put there to lock the focus ring.

Or use  old lenses with infinity lock ?

Is this really an issue? I’ve done long(ish) exposures but never even thought of the focus going off during exposure.
