Hello folk,

I have a question about the CL. I’ve created a user profile for black and white shooting. It works fine except….. when I look through the view finder it is b&w, when I take the shot it is b&w, but when I focus lock the composition the evf goes back to color. Very irritating because it change my idea of the shot. Am I missing something in the setup of my profile, is it normal or is it a glitch?

I am capturing in raw and jpeg. I understand that the raw version will contain color information for possible editing. What I don’t understand is why the view in the evf and touchscreen is black and white until I half depress the shutter and then it reverts to color. It takes the shot in b&w jpeg, I can chimp it to check but why does the screen show me a color rendering before the final shutter action?. It makes me unsure of what I will get. Of course I can ignore  it but it irritates me because it is illogical.

iI can't explain that, but setting up jpeg for black and white should allow you to view the scene in black and white. It is very easy to convert your DNG file to mono. I often do it, very successfully.

It maybe a glitch. I shoot only RAW and have setup my EVF to only show B&W. I can't say I have ever see color, but maybe that's because I manually focus rather than using focus lock, don't use the LCD to chimp, and just it to change settings.

Do you have the current firmware? Just curious as i don't see where your problem comes from.  Edit: Just a suggestion: I would use another SD card, do a reset of the camera and see what happens.
