Bottom line: Most people don’t normally publish reviews for a living unless they gain some benefit from doing so. It all depends on the ‘business model’ of the reviewer. Some reviewers expect payment, others get product to keep, while others live off advertising. Regardless of the business model, unless the reviewer is purchasing product to review, they are in some ways beholden to whomever supplies the product for review. There is inherent interest for the reviewer to limit poor/negative reviews as that would put them on the bad list with product developers and they would have a hard time getting things to review or getting early access. As such, take every review with a grain of salt.

That is ok and "expected", and the reason why I only trust 3-4 reviewers like Sean Reid, Dustin Abbot, Fred Miranda, and a few others.

But to claim that DXO didn't get paid and therefore its negative review cannot be trusted it's a bit of a stretch

About reviews. Has anybody seen anywhere a comparison of the best 28mm ? A comparison between Otus 1.4/28, Sigma Art 1.4/28 and the Apo Summicron SL 28 ?
