I once had a test S3 but at that time didn't find the difference from initial testing big enough to upgrade (for so much money).

Prices come down step by step, I would be very interested to hear experience from people who switched from the 007 to the S3.

What benefits you feel you got, how much better is color in real world,...

I upgraded. The S3 color, with a good profile, is midway between the 006 and 007. High ISO is about a stop better. AF is fine, but at that resolution I frequently go to magnified live view to focus - especially with longer lenses.

I also used an early pre-production S3. The production one is better.

I never felt that the S(007) lacked pixels. Yet I’m glad that I went for the S3. It’s not a big difference, but it’s there. With the 007, I missed the 006. With the S3, I don’t.

Matt.

just visited your website, great photographies! Do you use the S3 also for people shots or just for landscape?

I know about AF...

Thank you! I should really update that site...

I do very little portrait photography (unless you count my cat 🤣). My friend/brother-in-law Mark Mann is a well-known portrait photographer. He uses the S(007), but does extensive post-processing. So color matters less to him than file flexibility. He finds the S3 the same as the 007, except that the files load more slowly in PS 😀. But he distinctly prefers the S portrait files to the SL or SL2, both of which he uses for video.
