Aesthetics are obviously a matter of taste, but I vigorously disagree with those who argue down the qualitative value of this photo.  

For me, it represents the best of both worlds, an impression bolstered in part by the wildly divergent responses it's generated.  Strong features, yes;  negative emotion, not at all.  I still say it's a great photo, and the color version on your instagram is equally great.

Argue? Disagree? As you stated first, it’s a matter of taste and what you personally like.  Discussion is so much more interesting than vacuous “nice shot” posts.  I don’t think there is any personal animus in the posts.  Looking at the photo again, it seems to me that the contrast is too high.  We learn from the comments of others …

If you must quote what I wrote in your post, kindly at least have the courtesy to respond to its obvious dichotomous intent rather than cherry-picking with semantics.

Dear friends, thank you very much for all the constructive comments. As I tried to explain before, this shot was only an experiment.

Rebecca is not a professional model but kindly accepted to pose for this picture. I used an old / manual  85mm Nikkor lens that is very sharp, but I tried to use a soft focus in purpose to see what kind of effect I can get.

I posted this photo in the forum to see what everyone thinks about it. Both negative and positive comments have been very constructive to me and I very much appreciated your time and thoughts.

Here is the original shot that  the conversion to BW didn’t seem very successful according to some of the comments.
