75AA and 90AA DIfferences

Mark, I think you need your eyes testing ;) "75 Summicron had a UV/IR filter on, all others were bare." LOL

No Adjustments were made, just slight sharpen and resize for web with sRGB. Don't forget the 90 pre asph, summmarex and Nocti are all a lot older designs than the 75 AA.

Hacker, can you explain the logic of listing the lenses you have in your signature? I don't get it and I certainly don't care.

Mark, in other forums it is kind of bon ton to do so.... This forum is a bit of the odd man out in as much that we don't care for it.

What always gets my hackles up is calling a Summicron a Cron, a Summilux a Lux or even worse, a 'cron or 'lux. etc. It is an inexcusable modernism to me.

Eoin, that's what I thought. I see night and day difference between the first two (75/2 + filter) and the last four (no filter) and a great example of how foliage can be washed out if you do not use an IR filter.

Yes, I did think of adding one of those deep and meaningful statements to mine but I couldn't come up with anything. Perhaps "Amateur Photographer" would please Sean.

I can see I need to stop calling a Noctilux a "Nocti", Jaap!

Eoin, do you have an IR filter on the lenses, the greens look a bit anaemic.

I'm looking for the 24 and 28. Huge backorders as far as I know. If anyone can help, certainly would help me. I have had a few PMs on Ebay and various sources to check.

Mark, OK then your eyes are fine!, just disbelief I guess ;) . While I agree that the UV/IR is giving better greens, there is also shifts in tone from lens to lens, most noticeable is the 50+ year old Summarex, which always produces "pink/brown" images. I've also noticed this to a lesser degree with the 4th version 50 Summicron (not shown here). But I will test these again with UV/IR fitted when I get the Noctilux & UV/IR back from Solms.

But still it's hard to take away from the perfection in the 75 Summicron wide open other than to say the 90 Pre Asph stopped down from f:/4 gives almost the same image aperture by aperture with the 75 at a lot less money IMO.

I always thought it fine to use words like "fridge" and "pram" instead of "referigator" and "parambulator" respectively. Also, is there anything wrong using Cron and Lux as dimunitives? However, I changed my signature anyway :( .
