Not only are there legitimately two 'estates' arguing over Maier's photographs but also the people who want to jump into the cracks, she is big business, sadly long after her death. Buy from a reputable publishing house.

I had the privilege a couple of years ago to see some of her works professionally enlarged and printed by master printers and was enraptured by not just her subjects, but her photographic knowledge of the cameras she was using and the characteristics of the films she had at her disposal. It inspired me to get back into actively shooting again. Funny thing though, after a friend and I left the exhibit, we stopped at a restaurant and while we were chatting, a man came up to me and asked me to pose for some photos. Not sure if it was the camera I had with me (M4) or that I looked scruffy enough for him to think of  me as local color.😄
