Thorkild Ellerbaek Posted November 27, 2021 Share #1 Â Posted November 27, 2021 Advertisement (gone after registration) Is it possible to set up the M9 without the artificial "shuttersound"?
Advertisement Posted November 27, 2021 Posted November 27, 2021 Hi Thorkild Ellerbaek, Take a look here Leica M9 sound. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
a.noctilux Posted November 27, 2021 Share #2 Â Posted November 27, 2021 (edited) What do you mean by "artificial shuttersound" ? The motor wind-on or when the shutter is 'firing' ? "Discreet function" can be choosen in menu. Not that discreet, just delaying the wind-on. Menu, Advance, then Discreet ... LocalHero1953 Posted November 27, 2021 Share #3 Â Posted November 27, 2021 There is no artificial shutter sound! That is the sound of gears grinding, shutters slapping and springs releasing. One of the reasons I was delighted with the M240.
jaapv Posted November 27, 2021 Share #4 Â Posted November 27, 2021 Yes, you can by simply switching it on, as the shutter sound is always natural...
ianman Posted December 1, 2021 Share #5  Posted December 1, 2021 Sorry, I found the question very amusing. I don’t think anyone would make such a racket be artificial. 1

a.noctilux Posted December 11, 2021 Share #7 Â Posted December 11, 2021 Advertisement (gone after registration) Funny, the first time I use Sony A7R, my thinking was how noisy a camera can be, this was after using M9 for a while.
Boris Pasman Posted December 12, 2021 Share #8  Posted December 12, 2021 For me the shutter sound of M9 is a major 'enjoy' factor. It is so cool and non digital. 😀

bernstein1234 Posted December 18, 2021 Share #10  Posted December 18, 2021 For me the shutter sound gives my subjects the assurance that a shot has been fired 😂
Jean-Michel Posted December 18, 2021 Share #11  Posted December 18, 2021 Ahhh, to avoid distracting your subject, synchronize your shutter release with the popping of a cork of a Fin de Siècle Champagne bottle from Laurent-Perrier 😅 See the latest issue of LFI for context. Phil Aus Posted January 2, 2022 Share #12  Posted January 2, 2022 (edited) Personally, I love the shutter sound, it's part of the M9 character. Sod discreet  Edited January 2, 2022 by Phil Aus
UKBROOKLYN Posted March 29, 2022 Share #13 Â Posted March 29, 2022 Thats the sound of a tiny little German man inside the camera re cocking the shutter. It always reminds me of the old motor drives that you could get for SLR cameras when I was a boy.. It is a bit loud but really gives one the impression that a photograph is being "made" rather than taken.
