Marvin Yoon Posted November 25, 2021 Share #1  Posted November 25, 2021 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi, I'm trying to change/upgrade my Off Camera Flash for location from GODOX AD300PRO to PROFOTO B10x series or BRONCOLOR 80L to get higher power, but one unresolved question keep hanging and making me hesitate is because there's no brands support HSS even under manual mode(I don't use TTL mostly) As we know, Leica doesn't help almost all the light companies to make them Leica support trigger at all in the level of over 300 watts location flashes. So, I'm wondering if the way to connect from SL2 to flash trigger via sync cable can help to resolve HSS issue which GODOX supports under 1/400 shutter speed while PROFOTO only supports under 1/250. Does anyone has experienced on this configuration?  FYI. Please don't say "I can fire flash via Panasonic/Olympus/Canon/Nikon/Fujifilm trigger" cause we all know that most of the flashes can be fired, but the two issues are HSS and TTL Non of them make SL2 can utilize these two features following my actual exams baed on all of the XPro wireless triggers for all the brands. Advertisement Posted November 25, 2021 Posted November 25, 2021 Hi Marvin Yoon, Take a look here SL2 and Off Camera Flash System. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Photoworks Posted November 25, 2021 Share #2  Posted November 25, 2021 well a cable would not resolve anything, flash trigger cable are usually 1 pin connectors and only send trigger signal. HSS and TTL are technologies that require the camera talking to the flash in some ways, TTL means Trough the Lens. there is always the much more useable Hi-Sync from Elinchrom, and yes not supported for leica. I think the only way you can get what you are thinking is to use Multiple Leica SF60 flashes, like 6 in a bundle. There is always the Nissin MG10 what flames 165ws, battery powered and slow rechange.  The more sensible is using you AD300 and an ND filter on the lens in manual mode. In any case I have used the AD200 in low power for portraits in daylight at 1/500s with no problem  If you look in the forum, this has been talked before..

Many thanks for your wisdom on this subject anyway
FlashGordonPhotography Posted November 25, 2021 Share #4 Â Posted November 25, 2021 This is NOT the ideal solution but for the rare occasions I want HSS I use my S1R with my SL lenses. You could add a Panasonic body to your system if funds allow. Generally I use my X1D and leaf shutter lenses in studio. Never really been a fan of HSS. Gordon Thank you for this idea, but I’d better change my camera to Hasselblad than adapt additional S1R :) Yesterday, I had a test with Hasselblad 503cw+50c combination with 1/500 shutter speed and yes it works fine by it’s leaf shutter. So, I seriously start to think move to 907x with 50c back…
Marvin Yoon Posted December 15, 2023 Author Share #6 Â Posted December 15, 2023 (edited) It has been resolved since Godox and Profoto has released their Leica native Remote Syncs. I use those two systems without any big issues even though the Godox sometimes miss firing lol Edited December 15, 2023 by Marvin Yoon
Pelu2010 Posted December 20, 2023 Share #7  Posted December 20, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hey, I am not sure what you are searching for!  Are you looking for a trigger? Then what brand of strobes are you removing? Godox ? If Godox and your Camera is SL2 or SL2-s >>>>> Xpro L II is the trigger that triggers the Godox strobes >>>> but only those. Now Profoto should be supported by Leica I don't know if Broncolor is supporting Leica. But I am guessing that if you go to the Broncolor forum you will find a solution. And if you are located in a big city >>> then go to a rental with you camera and ask them .... cheers
