Question on Manual Focus S1R and Leica 24-90 (edges of image greyed out)

So far, I cannot figure out a way to manually focus to the edge of the image.  The camera when switched to MF, puts a transparent grey frame around the outside of the image (either on the LCD or EVF), so you cannot navigate to this part of the image (extreme edges).  Is there a way to move the manual focus area to the very edge of the image display?

yes there is ... but the camera is downstairs and its late. I think I remember doing it with the nipple and moving it around. Or take your eyes away and with live view on, touch your finger on the screen to where you want it to be.
