Hello,

I don't know what you are searching.

Anyway, I don't have answer, just to share the website which has some more infos on Serie filters:

https://www.apotelyt.com/photo-accessory/series-filters

I do have for years Kodak adapter to be used with Serie VI filters on my A42 lenses (Summicron 35/50, T-E 90 or 4/135, Elmarit 28/90, etc.)

Serie VI filters are very hard to find now.

It's sort of a weird question, I know...  If the hood is mounted on the lens, as you would for normal use, can a filter be threaded into the front / open end?  (...and if so, what size?)

Ultimately I'm shopping around for a cheap ring flash, with the hopes that I can attach it via adapters to that lens somehow.

Hi! The hood fits over the front of the lens barrel for the mentioned 35mm and 50mm lenses, held in place by the small silver-colored ears you can see in the image inside the hood. There are no threads on the hood for anything else to screw onto. I've had and used the 50mm lens that goes with this hood for many years. It accepts the male threads on the 14160 Series VI retaining ring. The retaining ring also has no threads at all on the front side (away from the lens). Note the retaining ring holds a Series VI filter on the front of the lens, and the filter itself has no threads at all. If you want to attach something to the lens, you would have to match the male threads found on the 14160 retaining ring. I'm not aware of any way to attach something else to the hood.

Direct answer: The 12564 hood is not designed to accept any screw on filters.

Best regards,
Neal

Thanks, Neal!  It was a long shot that it might work, but I couldn't tell by looking and I didn't have any appropriately sized filters to check with.

Off to scour eBay for a Series VI to whatever adapter...

Hello,

I have the 35mm Elmarit and have just received the correct lens hood and cap.

I originally bought a retaining ring (thinking it was a filter) which I thought would thread directly onto the lens. As others have commented, this isn’t possible. The ring is the Leica 14225 which seems to slot over the lens, between the hood, but seems loose. My question is, if I buy a filter for this size ring, would that fit between the two and not move around as it does now - is this what I should be using?

Many thanks.

Paul.

There were 3 versions of the Elmarit-R 35mm, and I suspect you have version 1, which takes a Series 6 filter held in by threaded ring #14160. That filter and ring were also used on the first version of the 50mm Summicron R. That ring screws into the lens, not over it.

14225 holds a series 7 filter and was made to screw into the 55mm thread of the version 3 Elmarit, but that lens was designed to take an E55 filter that screws into the lens.

From the pictures you should be able to tell which version you have:

Here's version 1 Elmarit: https://wiki.l-camera-forum.com/leica-wiki.en/index.php?title=35mm_f/2.8_Elmarit-R_I

Version 2 https://wiki.l-camera-forum.com/leica-wiki.en/index.php?title=35mm_f/2.8_Elmarit-R_II

and version 3: https://wiki.l-camera-forum.com/leica-wiki.en/index.php?title=35mm_f/2.8_Elmarit-R_III

Thank you, Tom. It looks like I have version 1.
So, this should work? - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/326710204904?_skw=leica+14160&itmmeta=01K6NH7S6GZKF15B0AZ78JVXGF&hash=item4c117219e8:g:VtoAAeSw07NoXC3Q&itmprp=enc%3AAQAKAAAA8FkggFvd1GGDu0w3yXCmi1csgyp%2Bj%2BF%2FEPmUCcv4v%2FucT9NX8uG%2BrbgoMRrU6BCJrtMECBLf1XGCrc4EKQf2NOyBdUyB0Cz8ab2pKO5Yg4LQMTALyrKixIySkKRFa1wETbHQhKPCc0lkrc2VQmUoZGfOVaeEI2BomnM1RIa%2FYQUkX4FZXRYVQiSlrmfgTcro9q4hvUTe9pAFAdCbBuXMJIba4EsOtIqKlu3ET34PwGhQpEA3Yj90JZanwd9nzUbIVb9knxwACP9G7cJVoK8tgZ8rxre4LYdcKSm4tWosl%2FQhywFtaEYsnVWiLuOZ%2FqIMtw%3D%3D|tkp%3ABk9SR7KTn7G1Zg
