Leica received my 24-90 in Germany but are having trouble replicating the front focussing issues.

so I need to send them some examples at the 75-90 focal lengths.

the lens is sharp especially when manually touched up.  Main issue is AF hitting 6-8” in front when at 75-90….

we’ll see how it goes.

Sent example photos to Leica.  So hopefully they can get the 24-90 dialed in.

the Q3 I ordered came in a couple of weeks ago but I decided to pass given the reported bugs and issues.  We’ll see if the next firmware fixes some of that.

I just hit 40,000 images in the last 6 months so it’s been busy.  Really enjoying the apo summicrons.

Since the 21 apo is slow to officially arrive… I just ordered a 28 apo to fill in.  It was in stock at the Leica warehouse so my dealer says it will be on the way.  Unlike the 50 apo which I waited months for…

the new 90 Hassy lens is now also very delayed til at least Nov so we’ll see if they ever get that lens out.  not sure Hassy has got it together.

but regardless, I am still super excited about the 21 apo from Leica!  Fingers crossed it is officially announced soon.

Been too long a gap so I need to get some more photos uploaded... crazy busy.  Great, quick and smooth fall-off on the 28 apo.  Eyes were beyond razor sharp.

Went with a slower shutter speed to blur the propellers.  Panned for motion as well.  I was impressed and definitely felt like this was the future for aviation and short haul flights / urban mobility.

This is interesting (apart from being well composed, exposed etc. :) ). I am surprised that at 1/500, the video screen behind the speaker shows the image clearly with no sign of banding. Any idea how this happened? Do modern LED projectors have a super-fast refresh rate or something?

I know that was a rear projection method of some sort.  There were cases where the convention hall also used stitched front projection on wide center portions of those screens (to the left of the ones shown) and those looked bad with many bands and disrupted graphics.  So I experimented with dif settings and also took being lucky…

I'll look forward to your report on the Q3.

Some of the wedding guys report that it was too much effort in post if a guy was using the sl2/sl2s and then editing a q3 image in the same session.

I am finding my groove editing the sl2s images quickly.  Workflow is so important.

Updates.

New SL Super APO 21mm arrives today.  It will be going in my bag along the 35 and 75 for work on the road next week.  My new Hassy 90 2.5 expected to arrive while I am gone.  Both lenses look to be a promising add.  Will update to the latest firmware today in both systems.

Early 4am start to work that day.  Much of the work was done before sunrise with additional sports type lighting on poles above.  SL2-s has great color without really needing any adjustments.  APO primes with ibis are really game changers to me.  I liked the composition to put one light behind the operator.  The files seem to work very well with adobe denoise but I have not applied any of that to this image.  The standard grain looks fine to me.  But if you like less grain, it can do amazing stuff.

Shot shortly after arrival and much earlier than the previous photo.  Only a hint of color in the sky.  De-Noise in Lightroom set to about 65 for this image which had some confetti color noise especially in the shadows.
