Antonylsmith Posted October 20, 2021 Share #1 Posted October 20, 2021 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have Just purchased A Leicaflex SL In mint condition it however needs A battery which I believe you can get from Kanto Cameras (adapter), and I got it Cheap £60 GBP With a sigma 28 mm lens I have the Leitz (German) 50 mm Summicron R from my R3 also, however it is jammed, I have a fair amount of experience in Camera Repair. the question is I have A Leicaflex Standard Factory Repair manual and I am asking how the two differ mechanically, as there is little information as far as I can tell on the web for this question: Any insights would be gratefully appreciated. Advertisement Posted October 20, 2021 Posted October 20, 2021 Hi Antonylsmith, Take a look here Leicaflex SL. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
a.noctilux Posted October 22, 2021 Share #2 Posted October 22, 2021 (edited) Hello Antonylsmith, Welcome here. Normally, if the lens is for R only, it would not mount on the Leicaflex SL. Strange situation. Check on your Summicron-R 50 if it's "Leica R only" or three cam lens: See this link here Edited October 22, 2021 by a.noctilux
Antonylsmith Posted October 22, 2021 Author Share #3 Posted October 22, 2021 Thank you very much that is very Useful information for the compatibility of R lenses. But I still have the query of how similar are the Leicaflex standard and SL In terms of their mechanical construction.

a.noctilux Posted October 22, 2021 Share #5 Posted October 22, 2021 I don't know how similar they are. Only know that the SL introduced spot TTL metering in place of external metering of the original Leicaflex . If you had not seen, we have our Wiki, here https://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-wiki.en/index.php/Leicaflex_Mark_1_and_Mark_2 https://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-wiki.en/index.php/Leicaflex_SL_and_SLMOT

rbutterfield Posted November 30, 2021 Share #7 Posted November 30, 2021 Advertisement (gone after registration) From speaking with Leica trained technicians, the build quality is the same - up through the SL2. Similar to M2,3,4 quality of construction. The SL is - from what I have been told by technicians - more reliable and I use mine regularly in addition to M3 and IIIa. they each do different things well. As far as batteries go, DAG recalibrated mine for modern batteries and the meter is extremely accurate.
