trickness Posted October 17, 2021 Author Share #21 Posted October 17, 2021 Advertisement (gone after registration) I just bought a 28 Summaron 5.6 M to use on the SL2, I'll leave it at f8, should be interesting to see how it works as a street lens, I'm guessing it will do quite well and keep the package very streetable! Ba Erv Posted October 17, 2021 Share #22 Posted October 17, 2021 SL2-S with the new Voigtlander 28mm f2 II Type I and a 50mm f1.5 II. Outstanding lenses and about as light as you’re gonna get.

Simone_DF Posted October 18, 2021 Share #26 Posted October 18, 2021 I just got a Voigtlander Nokton 35mm specifically for this purpose. I've been using the Sigma 45mm, the 24mm, and the Summilux 50 M, but I wanted a lens somewhere in between 24 and 50

Thanks.

Herr Barnack Posted October 18, 2021 Share #29 Posted October 18, 2021 For street photography and travel, the M or Q2 are my choices. Both are small and light which is important for these two applications. Each has its own strengths and there is a distinct difference in the way each camera causes you to think and work, particularly when doing street photography. That's been my experience. I like the SL cameras - they are truly great tools. But I don't need to get another Leica system going ( just ask my wife 😳 ).

I loved the Q2, but sadly I found iso 1600 barely acceptable, and the autofocus terrible. I will probably buy a Q3 as soon as it's available (2023?), but for now I let it go after 3 months of use. I know the capabilities of the M, and the obvious size differences. But you can use and glass and hyperfocal/F8 on an SL body as well. Yes - I have two SL2 bodies and now use it as my primary system for performance, events and a lot of landscape work. However, the M (mostly with 35) just works for me for street (not that there’s been so much of that lately!) https://www.flickr.com/photos/ctribble/shares/S1R4y2 https://www.flickr.com/photos/ctribble/shares/shTNhu https://www.flickr.com/photos/ctribble/shares/568D35 Edited October 19, 2021 by chris_tribble 1

I was looking for something small Hi Simone_DF, how do you like the results from your Nokton 1.4 MCii? I’m enjoying the two Sigmas (24 f3.5 and the 45) but I’d like a complementary 35 to go with my Summarit 75 to soothe my manual focus fix - something a bit faster than I have now. I like smaller size primes on the SL2-S and, although I’ve considered a 35 Summarit, I’ve narrowed it down to the ultron or the nokton 1.4. Thanks for any thoughts. I have the Sigma 24 and 45 too, and I love the little Nokton, such a gem. Shot it wide open and you'll get plenty of character (and glow), stop it down and it's very sharp. It's smaller than the Sigma, tomorrow I'll mount it and I'll take a snapshot so you can see how it looks like on the SL2s.

Looks like it belongs on the camera (which can be said of the Sigmas as well). Performance is important, obviously, but being the pathetic type, I need to enjoy the look & feel of my gear as well - and this is looking perfect for me. If I can get something approaching Ultron/Summicron level performance at mid apertures, then with the extra stop and character, I think I’m about to order this. Do you set it up as a Summilux 35 on the SL2-S or just leave it? thanks - very helpful. Edited December 26, 2021 by Chris Nebard Spelling
Fang Posted December 26, 2021 Share #39 Posted December 26, 2021 (edited) I have the SL and M system. Recently I bought a T with the 23mm cron (at dirt cheap price) and I find it perfect for street photography and now looking forward for the CL2 ( if Wetzlar listens to the cries of the APS-C users).
