Just ploughing through the menus and manual to set up my new SL2s.Most things make sense but... had it set up for EVF extended and realized that suddenly I'm only seeing one info bar now at the bottom of the screen in the finder. Can't seem to get any other screens with data  / focus peaking or whatever to re-appear.Have tried pressing the function button next to the eyepiece to no avail. This just toggles between EVF, AUTO and EVF extended. No Info bars. except the one at the bottom.

Anyone know what the problem might be?

Be nice. Leica doesn't think we need a manual in the box and though I was able to download an English version ( I'm in Japan)  I am slowly working through it now but it takes more free time than I have at the moment as I have to work some weekends, so I reached out to the forum. Manuals are not always easy to understand and my last Leica was a film M so this is quite a jump! For example, Factory setting I understand but Global setting (p137 English manual) I don't ) and also the super-something-thingy menu which Leica mentions a few times but doesn't seem to explain , so I assume it means the first screen that appears when turning on the camera with the easy icons for quick access. Anyway I'm getting there!

The FN button cycles through the information displays, including capture assistants.

Thanks. By going in to capture assistants I was able to re-configure the screens how I wanted.

Strangely..from factory set up some things were not assigned as stated in the manual so i wasn't initially getting the expected screens to show in the EVF.

All is well now.

Is it normal that CMOS sensor is always visible when changing lens? Would it be possible having it covered with curtains while lens-swapping? dust, sand and particles are killer where I live and I had several shots with a slight shadow because of wool partcle (or cotton or whatever it was).

It is normal and there is no way cover the sensor with the shutter. It would be a great feature though...

I’m guessing the issue is “how do you know the lens was removed?”

For L-mount lenses, that’s easy since there are electronic contacts, but Leica is also supporting many legacy lenses such as R-mount lenses without ROM and L-mount lenses without 6-bit coding. When using these older lenses, there’s no way for the camera to be sure whether a lens is mounted or not.

That said, it would be nice if Leica at least offered the option to automatically close the shutter if it can’t detect a lens.

Heck I would be happy if there was a button you could press before you changed the lens.... doesn't need to be automatic.
