Advertisement Posted October 16, 2021 Posted October 16, 2021 Hi spydrxx, Take a look here How to use M-mount lenses with old LTM cameras?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!

You really do need to take body, lens and adapter into a camera shop and find out what is going on. A few centimetres might be down to focussing tolerances - although very unlikely - but 25cm to 30cm? That's unheard of. We cannot possibly help you in this matter unless we have far more detailed information to help us understand where the problem may lie. Take them all, together, into a shop and find out what is going on. Edited October 17, 2021 by pippy

As I said this is my first LTM lens, I have several M lenses from 21 to 90 and all of them focus precisely without any problem like this LTM. So calibration on my camera body is not necessary. The problem only on the LTM. Thanks for your concern anyway.

The first two adapters blocked the RF arm moves to the bottom as shown in my previous picture thus I bought the third one. This time the RF arm ables to move according to the lens helicoid but the resultant pictures are out of focus when the optical VF is in focused. I use the live view to check against the optical VF and confirmed they are not match. The actual focusing point as shown in live view is about ten inches to a feet behind the optical focusing/overlapped point. I am not sure whether it was reassembled by repairman as it was bought from used market but the retaining rings have some wear. Although there is no assembling info in the internet, may be I would dissemble and reassemble it again if no one want to buy this lens. I will rather buy M-lens as the "investment" on LTM lens seems very risky. I've used lots of LTM lenses on M cameras and never had an issue. It seems your lens must be faulty if it doesn't work properly.

From a dealer or a from a private individual? In person from a 'real' shop or through the internet from something like eBay? How was the item described? Can you get a refund as the thing seems to be unusable. As you have no issues with your M lenses then the fault must lie with the lens (the Leitz adapter is not going to be 'faulty'). If the lens is as bad as it would seem and you can't return it as being faulty then you could try to sell it but I doubt you would get anyone to pay much for it in the state it seems to be in. That leaves either paying for a service/rebuild or attempting the thing yourself. I haven't searched for any dis-assembly / reassembly clips on the web but if you post your problem over in the Collectors and Historica subforum there are some extemely well-informed members who may be able to take you through the strip-down / rebuild processes for the Summaron. Here's where; https://www.l-camera-forum.com/forum/35-leica-collectors-historica/ Philip. Edited October 17, 2021 by pippy

He accepted the return as he uses the lens for mirrorless camera only hence did not notice the problem. Thanks anyway.
