Just to clarify, some sales estimates:

M60       600

M-D        1500

M10-D   2000

So we see a clear upward trend in interest and demand for the screenless M over the years...

At these low numbers, that's hardly trend. If memory serves me, the M60 and the M-D were both based on the M240 — and the M60 was a special edition that was about twice the price of the M-D. So, in a statistical context, this isn't a trend and even less so in the context of production planning. Now, taking the total M60 and the M-D as a percentage of M240/M262(?) produced and comparing to total to M10-Ds as a percentage of M10s produced, is likely to show decline in that percentage.

But where does the 2000 figure come from? Were there really so few M10-Ds produced? If so, it's not surprising that the M10-D has been terminated.

Take it easy 👍

M11 in few months

then M11-P in another few months more (years ?)

then M11-R or M11-M to be decided which one first

if the M12 will be late,

why not produce M11-D while waiting, but not reliable situation

But how long before preorders are shipping after that? 😑

Generally speaking, Leica has been ready to ship product on the day of announcement ever since the M9 (I got my pre-ordered M9 within 7 days of the announcement.)

My M10 took 5 weeks - because I didn't order until announcement day.

Now there may well be people who are not paying attention, or lackadaisical about putting in their "pre"-orders - and end up behind 10000 other people. Or by choice or circumstance, live in less well-served parts of the world.

But fools cannot be protected from their folly. ;)

Andy, is that a tongue in your cheek that I see?

You could equally have said 'easily parted with their cash', in which case they are not fools to mix a metaphor up a bit. Some of my Leicas took 90 years to get to me and they were still working very well.

When I was in Wetzlar in September I was left with the impression that the M11 might be delayed. I suspect that the shortage of chips/memory for sensors, which is a worldwide situation at the moment, might have something to do with this.

I will buy an M11 at some stage, but the absence of one for some time won't put a 'hole in my life'.
