I'm far from convinced that it's fungus - it looks more to me like particle deposition after drops of condensation have dried out.  The reason I say this is that the round shapes are all very round and the same size which is unlikely with organic fungus growth but more likely if drops of condensation formed at the same moment as a result of thermal shock - for example coming into a warm environment from sub-zero temperatures outside.   

Yes there's plenty of dust although that's what you get when you shine a bright light through a lens, pretty much any lens.  Try it with your other lenses if you're prepared to see all sorts of nasties.  Take a deep breath and close your eyes first though. 

Having said that, if it is deposit from condensation then the lens has been wet inside and I'd probably send it back rather than deal with the long term effects of that.

I am doing exactly the same right now. I have sent my 50 Lux pre-ASPH (E46) to Germany for a 6 bit coding and CLA. But I was told the repair will cost about US$ 1.300, double what you paid. The glass looked nice and clean, but after the lens was exposed to a large splash of water last fall, I think it flared a lot more than before. So I hope a CLA will help.

There was haze on the lens when sent off, but no fungus and not as noticeable as in the photo of your lens. When it arrived back the lens was obviously more transparent. Now it is my favorite Leica lens, and has the ability to capture light in a way unlike any of my other lenses. I highly recommend this lens, but it is not worth what you paid in that condition. I would never keep a lens that arrived with fungus.

How long was the lens away for to get the CLA and coding?  Thanks

It took 3 months from the time I sent the lens to Leica USA to the time it was returned to me. It likely would have been done sooner and back to me in less time if I didn't debate over the quote -- I believe it took me 2 or 3 weeks to authorize the service once they sent me the quote.

Strange that there is so much discrepancy in service costs. However, the water damage might necessitate additional time cleaning.

Thanks very much - I will anticipate 8-10 weeks then if I need that done.  I only have 1 coded lens

Junichi94,   Here is a tip about buying online from sellers like eBay.  First, make sure the company you are dealing with has a return policy.  Read and follow their guidance on returns.  Second, check the reviews and star ratings of the seller by other buyers.  If the history does not reflect prompt returns and refunds, do not buy from the dealer/seller.  I would never buy a lens etc with less than a 99% satisfaction rating.  Also, make sure and I repeat my warning, make sure the seller has solid history of selling camera equipment.  There are pirated sites on eBay. These pirates are people who have taken over a legitimate site due to easy passwords and then make it their own.  I hope this helps.  r/ Mark
