The Panasonic/SL2 IBIS is one of the best in the market, if not the best implementation.

SL2-S IBIS is amazing. though it should have the options of : 1: on/off/shooting only 2: activate simply by choosing focal length in a menu
oliviersm Posted September 21, 2021 Share #4  Posted September 21, 2021 It’s pretty frikkin’ amazing. In my YouTube review of the Leica SL2-S, I talk about the 1 second exposures I can shoot with it handheld with no issues. It’s so good. Are you looking to buy it?
beewee Posted September 22, 2021 Share #5  Posted September 22, 2021 (edited) Thanks Olivier! Before watching your video a couple weeks ago, I never thought to take handheld long exposures. Funny enough, the other day, a friend of mine was playing around with the live photo long exposure mode on the iPhone during a hike which got me curious so I played around with the SL2-S and managed to get some pretty nice 1/2 second handheld exposures. Normally, I would hesitate to shoot below 1/focal length and would never imagine shooting long exposure for moving water without a tripod but the IBIS on the SL2-S certainly opens up some new possibilities. The image below was shot at 1/2 second handheld at 24mm with the Leica 16-35mm SVE. Welcome, dear visitor! oliviersm Posted September 23, 2021 Share #6  Posted September 23, 2021 Wow @beewee!! Nicely done! 🙂 Who'd have thought eh? IBIS in a Leica body for 0.5 to 1 second. It changes things no? PS: I'm really glad you found my video a couple of weeks back. 🙂 On 9/22/2021 at 7:19 AM, beewee said: Thanks Olivier! One thing I did notice in taking a few long exposures with the 16-35 is that although IBIS did an excellent job in the center of the frame, the outer edges/corners appear less sharp. I’m pretty sure this is not because of the lens being out of focus or lacking in depth of field since it was stopped down quite a bit. I have a feeling that IBIS has a harder time compensating the effect of camera shake on the outer parts of the frame due to the super wide angle. It’s also possible that the sensor may be able to better compensate for small amounts of shift in the up/down/left/right direction but has a harder time compensating for motion caused by tilt in the up/down and left/right direction as well as rotation about the axis of the lens, at least for an ultra wide angle perspective.
