Hi Wilson

I have found the same thing on the smoooooth barrell. My daler wh sold me the lense said that he might have an old hood around in a box that he is going to look for. Ordered a filter today.

Will check with Leica on Tuesday to see whnat the backlog mght be to convert the mount with the 90mm coding (or I can swap it off of my 90mm (no I dont't think so)

Anyway, an all around fun lense to use.

Gary,

If you are going to have it coded (I am in two minds, as you also need to have the mount swapped, since the coding will not work on the 135 mount if you are over-rotating to get the 90 framelines,as I am) I would guess the Elmarit 135/2.8 would be the best coding to go for (001001), since that will at least give you 135mm on your EXIF.

Here is one from this morning of a derelict house in an olive grove taken from my patio, with the 135 + 52mm 092 IR filter on a e39 to 52mm adapter ring. 50% crop and then re-size. I am not sure I am getting the IR focus 100% right yet. This was at about 2mm back from infinity but not far out.

Hi Wilson

That is just what I am looking to do. I have a Canon that I had altered just to shoot IR and use it at Kennedy Space Center for launches with a lot of palm trees in the forground. It alos makes a great travel camera. My altered Canon will only shoot B&W IR on RAW with the ISO set at 200.

I had IR filters made and will get a 52-39 ring to use myon my 135 f4. This is a great idea and a nice image.

The focus does not bother me due to the IR.

If you get a chance, I have a section on my web with some of my IR images.

Thanks

Gary

Gary,

I got my rings (46-52 and 39-52) from the USA eBay My World - heavystar - very reasonable prices, nicely made and efficient.

Wilson, is that infrared Tourtour? I prefer the normal light version ;)

Have fun!

Manuel,

Yes that is Tourtour in the lots of IR we are having at the moment. It was really an experiment to see if any sort of focus could be obtained with the 135 in IR and I was pleasantly surprised. I am lucky in that my house is built right on the edge of the cliff, looking down into the Salernes valley 300m below.
