Hello all - I was wondering if anyone has tried putting the Summilux 28 hood for a Q camera on the Summilux-M 28?

Many thanks for your help,

GN

I have no idea if that Q hood fits the M lens. But if it fits then just try. If you see some vignetting then its not ideal. If you see no vignetting and you like the mixed combo then I think that its perfect match.

The Q hood has a 60mm thread, the 28mm Summilux a 54mm thread.  The alternatives to the 28 hood are almost zero, the 24mm Summilux hood is the same thread but different enough to make it unworkable. Series 7 corresponds to 54mm but that leads to a dead end.  The Leica hood is about as good as it gets for size, flare and viewfinder blockage.

The filter thread is 49mm on the 28mm Summilux, one of the cheap eBay hoods might reduce size.

Screw-in vented cheap hood may work, like one of these '49mm' hood

I use in different diameters on many lenses.

Some may need to be worked on ...

like if vignetting a bit, I'd file the four corners or if not right orientaion of "see-thrue" put a paper ring, etc.

The Thorsten hood is bulkier and less streamlined than the OEM. Also note, I ordered one and it went months without shipping, Thorsten’s minions stopped replying, and I had to open a PayPal dispute.

I had to do the same for a Q2 hood. Horrible experience.
