I know this is an ongoing topic, but I'm revisiting my lens lineup (again). I shoot primarily street and portrait work. mostly natural light but some flash as needed.

Right now I have a 28Lux & the 24-90. Thats probably all I need.😈 But just for fun...I've been running these combos.

1. 28Lux, SL35 Cron, 50lux, 24-90.

2. 35FLE, SL50 Cron, 24-90 + Q-P or Q2.

3. 28Lux, 35FLE, 50Lux + 24-90.

4. SL28 Cron, 35FLE, 50Lux, SL90 Cron and sell the 24-90.

5. Canon R5 (35, 50mm1.2, 851.2, 70-200) + Q-P or Q2 for personal walk abouts.

For those of you not tired of this mind-bender...which would you pick?

Street photography, so a small camera. Changing lenses slows the reaction time. One fast wide angle prime would be my recommendation for this motive area.. Today, cropping is not a restriction any more. But  I am not a typical streetphotographer

I’d go with any combo that includes the 35 APO-Summicron-SL, so number 1!   That lens is just so, so, so very good.  I primarily shoot street and when I take the SL2 out, that’s the lens that I prefer.  The 24-90 is an excellent bit of glass and I used it for a portrait session last night and it really delivered.  But I would never shoot street with a zoom - too much fiddling required.  The Q2 and Q2M are excellent street and walkabout cameras and I tend to take them out when I’m feeling lazy and want autofocus 😁

I’ve since sold my M10 and my Leica glass to fund other ventures, as I’ve never really been very happy with any digital M thus-far (and with today’s used prices on glass in particular I can’t afford to buy back in anyways) so I’m using a couple Voigtlander options on my M-A to cover my rangefinder needs. Perfectly happy with that setup, especially as I prefer a film M to a digital one, and those new Voigtlanders are both performant and affordable.

The SL is something I got into this year after a seemingly endless turnover of trying to figure out a digital system I didn’t hate. I’m enjoying the L mount so far, but as with most modern digital offerings, everything is enormous. That being said, if I could afford to do so I would be thoroughly pleased to buy the 28/50/90 SL Summicrons but even just one of those is outside of my budget presently. I’ve instead been using the Sigma “I” primes, the 24/35/45/65 in different pairings and for their price I am thoroughly pleased with their performance on my SL. In addition to that I find all 4 of those lenses to be totally manageable from a size-perspective which makes the SL much more flexible for me personally.

So from my setup If I want to keep things small I will pair the 24 with the 45mm, and for “work” I’m using the 35 paired with the 65mm.

I've been contemplating this topic for half a year now. Along with the SL2-S, I was thinking of getting a Q2 for quick snaps, or maybe a 35mm SL because I hear it's one of its kind. I was marvelling at the Summilux 50mm SL's IQ and character (and still do) and was thinking of getting a CL2 (when it will be available) with a vintage M Summicron 35mm (viable option for a pocketable camera).

But after a few projects I've realised with the SL2-S and the 24-90, I figure this combo offers everything a photojournalist may need. Fast working pace, reliable AF, impressive IQ even in ridiculous lowlight situations, and superb video when required. If this camera and lens can't do it, nothing can.
So that's where I'm now. One lens, one happy camper.

But recently, I've shot a few snaps with an old 50mm Summicron R, and I felt the vintage glass itch I've been feeding almost two decades with a collection of vintage PL lenses, which fortunately I mostly have sold.

In reality, I'm at square one. Q2, CL2 with Summicron 35mm M, Summilux 50 SL... Will it ever stop?
