a.noctilux Posted August 11, 2021 Share #2 Posted August 11, 2021 First approximation ...in Wiki https://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-wiki.en/index.php/35mm_f/1.4_Summilux_II ... 3281401 3282400 35mm f/1.4 Summilux-M (ELC.black) 1983 1000
matt.tyler Posted August 12, 2021 Author Share #3 Posted August 12, 2021 Thank you, I had also found that. But then how do I get further to the model number?
adan Posted August 12, 2021 Share #4 Posted August 12, 2021 Which model number do you mean? It is a so-called Version II (see link title in post #2), but also (if the wiki is correct) black anodized, which gives it a catalog number of 11870. Also, if you don't already know, Leica pre-assigned S/Ns in blocks: "The next 1000 35mm Summiluxes we make will get numbers 3281401 through 3282400" That block of numbers was not used up and replaced with a new block until 1985, so it may be a 1983 or a 1984 (or even possibly an early 1985) lens. (In other words, Leica serial numbers sometimes have to be read like animal entrails ) But in any case a version II (2), and a 11870 black lens. adan Posted August 12, 2021 Share #6 Posted August 12, 2021 You mean a list of all the catalog numbers (or the 5-letter codes that preceded them) - cross-referenced to the items in detail? The Leica wiki has a lot, but subdivided by categories, so you have to hunt around a bit from section to section. http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-wiki.en/index.php/Main_Page For example: http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-wiki.en/index.php/M_Lenses_x_Focal_Length or http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-wiki.en/index.php/E Other than that, the only ones I know of are in collectors' reference books, and even then you have to have some idea of what you are looking for. Although there is this: https://stephen-westin.com/misc/Leica_order_numbers.html You might ask on the Historica/Collectors sub-Forum.

[ Entrez le numéro de série et indiquez si il concerne un boîtier ou un objectif. jensthoes Posted August 13, 2021 Share #9 Posted August 13, 2021 ….this website is fine for the age of cameras and lenses in the last century. For newer stuff it is not complete. Best, Jens

If this were online it could be searched much more conveniently. The same author also has published an extensive list of lens production dates: https://www.lindemanns.de/shop/fotobuchhandlung/64181l-leica--hartmut-thiele-grosses-fabrikationsbuch-leica-objektive.php Edited August 13, 2021 by Studienkamera
