Advertisement Posted October 17, 2021 Posted October 17, 2021 Hi Giguchan, Take a look here Is it worth buying analogue in 2021. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
a.noctilux Posted October 18, 2021 Share #182 Posted October 18, 2021 The title of this thread is " Is it worth buying analogue in 2021" without ? I wonder if in English, reversing verb/subject without "?" this is information or question. Still ... We have 10 pages of opinions 😁
IkarusJohn Posted October 18, 2021 Share #183 Posted October 18, 2021 A question?
Guest Nowhereman Posted October 18, 2021 Share #184 Posted October 18, 2021 (edited) ^ I think a.noctilux is asking if the lack of a question mark in the thread title can be read as a declarative sentence: "It is worth buying analogue in 2021". @a.noctilux - You can get the answer by placing the title text into the Deep.L translator: https://www.deepl.com/translator Incidentally, the Deep.L translator, for the languages it covers, is much better than Google Translate, particularly for idiomatic expressions. Try it. It's available online and in a free download version. On the Mac, you can select any text simply by pressing Command-C twice and it copies the text into the translator and gives you a translation. Quick and convenient, as you don't have to copy and paste as with Google Translate. It's very good with English/French." _______________________________________Frog Leaping photobook and Instagram Edited October 18, 2021 by Nowhereman
IkarusJohn Posted October 18, 2021 Share #185 Posted October 18, 2021 Sorry, I was being ironic (again). My bad. I’m not sure that “Is it worth buying analogue in 2021” can be read as a statement “It is worth buying analogue …”. The question, albeit without a question mark, is hardly rhetorical.

Don't know what you mean by that — and we're dealing in this case only with English. 🙂 My point was, if you put the title of this thread into the Deep.L Translator (without question mark), the French translation will be, "Cela vaut-il la peine d'acheter de l'analogique en 2021 ?" (with question mark) or "Est-ce que cela vaut la peine d'acheter de l'analogique en 2021" (without question mark, but the "Est-ce que" is a question signifier). _______________________________________Frog Leaping photobook and Instagram
Vlad Soare Posted October 19, 2021 Share #187 Posted October 19, 2021 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) No, it cannot be read as a statement, because the verb is placed before the subject, which in English is a question signifier in and of itself. 🤓 Edited October 19, 2021 by Vlad Soare
