Einst_Stein Posted August 2, 2021 Share #1 Posted August 2, 2021 Advertisement (gone after registration) I dropped Leica R 35-70mm f4. The focus airing is not smooth, the zoom ring can be jammed depends on the focus ring. Any suggestion where to repair?

LeicaR10 Posted August 2, 2021 Share #2 Posted August 2, 2021 Einst_Stein, What country and area do you live? The R forum might be able to help. r/ Mark

LeicaR10 Posted August 2, 2021 Share #4 Posted August 2, 2021 (edited) Einst_Stein, I would most highly recommend you contact Don Goldberg at DAG Camera. You can find his website at: www.dagcamera.com His phone number is listed in contacts. He does excellent work and can tell you if it can be repaired. He is quite reasonable and more so than Leica. I use to send my R gear to him. I send all my M lenses there once out of warranty with Leica. Sometimes, I even send my M lenses to Don after Leica NJ doesn't do a proper job. r/ Mark Edited August 2, 2021 by LeicaR10

mmx_2 Posted August 4, 2021 Share #6 Posted August 4, 2021 You can always ask Leica, they where able to repair a similar damage on my apo- Elmarit and repaired the mount of my 35-70 f4 about 3 years ago. otherwise, I’d also ask DAG.

jaapv Posted August 6, 2021 Share #9 Posted August 6, 2021 Nowadays Leica will only handle repairs to R lenses that do not require spare parts, as there are none as in zero - a problem that third-party technicians will come up against as well. I think I am doomed. I think only cleaning and adjustment may require no parts, all repairs are likely to need some. davidmknoble Posted August 6, 2021 Share #11 Posted August 6, 2021 You emailed Don at DAG and he will respond, but it may take some time. It probably will also depend on what the repair needs. Worst case, you find a cheap user copy of the lens for parts. Really sorry you dropped it, I actually just picked up a really nice copy of the lens. Seems like the “Tri Elmar MATE” of the R series! Alternatively, if none of that works out, reach out to the Leica Shop in Vienna. They sell a lot of used equipment and I think they repair some to selll it??? Technician Posted August 6, 2021 Share #12 Posted August 6, 2021 I can't for the life of me understand why did Leica sell its all spare parts inventory for R stuff to Photo Arsenal, which doesn't care selling parts at all. Like a dragon Smaug, it's sitting on its riches, hoarded and useless.
