Here is a nice example of the kind of crop one can do to a q2 image if need be.  Compare the original file to the processed cropped one

Unfortunately I see this as an example what one cannot do with cropping. It is severely overprocessed in a doomed attempt to bring out and sharpen non-existing detail.

I'd say this is a fail, but I like your enthusiasm, I have many fails myself, part of learning! Concentrate on the original photo, its not a bad shot, the croc does get lost a bit, but the tree reflection is nice, so run with that
