I went overboard in Long Island this weekend; lifejacket inflated as it should do, I grabbed backpack and passed it quickly to my wife on board the vessel we were alongside, she ran to galley and rinsed the CL off with fresh water. I finished righting the dingy, climbed on board and rinsed camera some more.

Dried it off as best I could and then resigned myself to the fact that it was in all probability now a paperweight and carried on with the weekend.

Camera was in water for less than a minute.

Spoke to Leica in Soho and at service yesterday morning; yup, it's probably beyond repair but they will be happy to evaluate it.

At this stage I'm probably just going to go with a new one.

$3,100 with an 18mm in stock in the city.  Not that keen on the 18mm however it's pretty much a free lens at that price.

Oh dear, bad luck... I did the same thing pretty much with my M10 a couple of years ago and it was end of life for the camera.

I did try all the various suggestions, rice etc with my M10 but all to no avail and it had been in fresh (river) water not salt water as yours.

I've actually come to really like the 18mm having bought it on a whim a couple of months ago, makes the CL very very portable.  Anyway, hope you get sorted soon.

Well my household insurance paid up.

After much dithering I opted to replace the CL with an S5 as I was finding the 70-300 a bit unwieldy on the smaller body.

It'll take ages to get to grips with the controls but the picture quality, particularly at high iso is superb.

My Leica collection is now down to the Q2 (try to prise it away from me if you dare) and some 'vintage' m mounts so I'll have to migrate to the other sub forum for now.
