Ko.Fe. Posted June 19, 2021 Share #21 Posted June 19, 2021 Advertisement (gone after registration) Sorry I missed it. I'm not into lenses topics since I have settled. I have sold all Leitz, Leica lenses and keeping only Summarit-M 35 2.5. This lens is speed light ahead of flat rendering from CS 35 2.5 which I had in all three versions and for years. Also, here is new kid of the block, 35/2 CV VM. Worth to check as well. I won't buy any Leica lenses now, because of steady, good VM new lenses line. Ultrons 35 1.7 LTM, VM were optically very close to Summarit-M 35 2.5. But bad lenses on exterior. Latest Cosina got their act together and in addition to crap vintager makes normal handling lenses. In fact I prefer it. I agree, having owned both the Summarit 35mm and the Zeiss C Biogon, I now much prefer the Summarit. The Zeiss 35mm f/2.8 C Biogon seems to be closer to a 37 or even 38mm field of view, much tighter than the Summarit. Since I often pair this with a 75mm lens, I want the wider (true) 35mm view. In addition, the Zeiss is cooler in its rendering, with blue and greens sometimes being too saturated for my taste.

I'll report back my thoughts and feelings on this lens at some point in the future! Edit: FYI I love the color skopar. Small, compact can go anywhere...some favourite images made from it, just want to try something new So, have you got the lens now and if so what are your initial thoughts in comparison to the Skopar? Hey! So yep i've been using it for the last 2 weeks. I've yet to get my film scans back so can't comment on images yet. In terms of feel, the aperture clicks are slightly more 'satisfying' than the skopar, also really enjoy focusing with the tab. Very very similar size, build is slightly superior on summarit but really not noticeable at all. summarit square lens hood is quite flimsy and I did prefer the metal round skopar one. Overall is the summarit worth the price difference? No, but I knew this before buying. Maybe it was my ego wanting the Leica name and the 'best' there is but hey I'm happy :)
a.noctilux Posted June 21, 2021 Share #25 Posted June 21, 2021 Square hood of the Summarit-M 2.5/35mm is the same as the one for 2.5/50mm. I may be wrong, but when I purchased the 50mm, it didn't come with the separate/decicated hood, so I use without hood happily, or I used one of my favorite hood 12585. When later the Summarit-M 35mm came with it's hood, I tried without hood for it's compactness, then still use without hood. In my use they are good enough without hood, the first/front lens of the 35/50 is far and small enough not to take finger prints or "flare problem".

johntobias Posted July 4, 2021 Share #30 Posted July 4, 2021 I found the summarit (mine is the 2.4 asphalt one) just produced better colour saturation and handled better on the camera….perhaps I like well saturated colours…in my youth I loved Fuji slide films for just that reason….anyway, I was offered a mint booked one for 1k£ so it was a no-brainer. Only flaw is it is chrome and all my other stuff is black…stands out a bit ! Welcome, dear visitor!
