Good day,

A seller of a Leica M lens I am interested in sent me the photo below. This is a lens from about 2003. This is a low quality shot, but It seems the screws on the back of the lens are tarnished. I just checked my M lenses from that period, they are all 100% clean. Would this be a reason to stay away from this lens?

Thanks! SK

If the lens is clean, without scratches and fungus and the mechanic functionality is given you can keep it. It is not unusual that zinc plated steel shows traces of tarnishing, depending on the quality of plating and/or storage conditions. In the worst case, get a set of new screws and exchange them.
